I am running dual 970 reference cards hooked to a 28" samsung 4K and I can actually go 4K or 6K if I want low res graphics. I would recommend installing cuda and nvidia drivers because it seems to perform better than with the OSX drivers.

With laptops, it's easier to just use voodooHDA. I too had ALC 269 on my samsung laptop and nothing worked but voodoo. sucks but at least it works.

Yep, I love gaming on my hack.. In Yosemite I play Sims 3, Sim City 2014, Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, and many other fun games. I also tend to use my VMware a little too much to play big fish games as well.

yeah there is a thing as copy protection on a free app even. If you copy the .app file to a different system, it will ask you to log in with the account that purchased it. I have done this on my 4 systems.

there are easy ways to do this but it circumvents the copy protection built into the software. It is best to log into the app store to download it.

It seems that a lot of people are having the same problems with that card and SL.. Have you thought about upgrading to Lion or ML? From my personal experience, Lion seems to be the best in terms of speed and capabilities for older hardware.
