<< Solved >> clover not booting os x

Hi all, I have been running a stable High Sierra installation for years now. Dual boot with Win 10. During the night, OS X reset, booted into default Win 10. When I try to restart OS X, clover doesn't load. When loading clover from a USB drive it loads, shows all OS X partitions but none of...

Screen on 2nd graphics card not working/not detected

Hi everyone, I have been running High Sierra for a long time with two 980TIs and 3 screens. Out of nowhere the third screen on the second card is not detected. The OS sees the card in Cinema 4D/Octane and System Profiler. All three screen are running when booting Win10. Does anyone know what...

NVIDIA Releases Alternate Graphics Drivers for macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 (387.10.10.10.40)

That's what I did. I have a 10.12.3 installation on another SSD. Rock solid despite rather ancient web drivers.

Octane shows you the amount of free VRAM.

NVIDIA Releases Alternate Graphics Drivers for macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 (387.10.10.10.40)

Similar here. 25.106 was the only driver that allowed me to use CUDA/OpenGL with two cards installed. But when using Octane I have only a fraction of the VRAM available and it's leaking. I went back to my Sierra installation.

If it still stutters it's crap. You don't really need a 1060 for that. Works better with onboard graphics. Waiting for someone who runs 2+ GPUs with an application that needs them.

NVIDIA Releases Alternate Graphics Drivers for macOS High Sierra 10.13.5 (387.10.10.10.35)

You need to patch the driver to allow for installation in 10.13.5. This script does it for you: https://github.com/Benjamin-Dobell/nvidia-update

NVIDIA Releases Alternate Graphics Drivers for macOS High Sierra 10.13.5 (387.10.10.10.35)

The driver does not work properly with dual cards. Try switching back to a patched 378.10.10.10.25.106.

NVIDIA Releases Alternate Graphics Drivers for macOS High Sierra 10.13.5 (387.10.10.10.35)

I agree. The NVIDIA drivers are more like pre-alpha. My 10.12.3 system runs fine as opposed to the 10.13.4 installation. Not sure if the problem is NVIDIA or Apple here. The memory problem occurs right after booting. not much time for leaking. And as for AMD or Windows: Not really an alternative...

NVIDIA Releases Alternate Graphics Drivers for macOS High Sierra 10.13.5 (387.10.10.10.35)

Another interesting bit: When I run Sierra and fire up Octane, I have >4GB of free VRAM on my 980Tis. On High Sierra, free VRAM drops to less than 2GB. That makes rendering large scenes impossible. Wondering, if Metal 2 screws up everything here...

NVIDIA Releases Alternate Graphics Drivers for macOS High Sierra 10.13.5 (387.10.10.10.35)

Probably not with two cards installed. But I haven't tried. Still running *25.106 with CUDA 9.2 here.

NVIDIA Releases Alternate Graphics Drivers for macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 (387.10.10.10.30)

The *30.107 driver works fine with the latest CUDA if you have one NVIDIA card. CUDA is not working with two cards. In order to make two cards work you will need the patched *25.106 driver. It stutters now and then but CUDA works.

NVIDIA Releases Alternate Graphics Drivers for macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 (387.10.10.10.30)

I have a hard time imagining NVIDIA changing their code base to not support multiple cards. That's just not in their interest. I think Apple screws this up big time.

NVIDIA Releases Alternate Graphics Drivers for macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 (387.10.10.10.30)

Confirmed. Patched 26.106 with CUDA 396.64 runs OpenGL on two 980Tis. No issues so far. No Lilu or NvidiaGraphicFixup installed. Security update for 10.13.4 installed. TNX, apple pic!

NVIDIA Releases Alternate Graphics Drivers for macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 (387.10.10.10.30)

I haven't tried WebGL with both cards installed. It does run with one card. OpenGL does definitely not run with two cards installed. Even not with two cards installed and power cords pulled from one card. I have to physically remove the second card to make OpenGL run.
