    Yes, yes and yes. I swapped it to a Sony Optiarc DVD drive from my last build and so far that one is working and hasn't gone to sleep. I think you are 100% spot on with the drive going to sleep, does anyone know how to prevent a DVD drive from going to sleep? Or make it wake up properly?

    I disabled the sleep because it appeared people were having issues with sleep and the Intel integrated SATA ports. That wasn't the cause since it still happens. I reapplied the 3rd Party SATA drivers and the system is behaving the same. DVD drive works properly when the system is first booted...

    I have put computer to sleep slider to never and I do not have the put hard drives to sleep box checked. And in the Z77X-UD5H builds I have looked at nobody is selecting 3rd Party SATA and when I did try that at one point the system behaved oddly.
