Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

@etorix and @StefanAM - I thank you both greatly for your help. Enabling SetupVirtualMap in config.plist (found under Booter -> Quirks), has let me boot into Monterey again (will try Ventura later - but I see no reason why it won't also work here).

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

I would hold off installing this for the time being. I installed the new BIOS on my Gaming X motherboard, two days ago, and can no longer boot into Monterey or Ventura (Public Beta). Will wait to hear if any other users are affected, or if this is just down to my configuration. Hopefully a...

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

@OptimaLemon - Just to add to CaseySJ's thorough reply - I've read that some users are having success with OCAuxiliaryTools (OCAT for short), which can be used to modify OpenCore's config.plist and other files. This seems to be a new configuration tool, that can also update your kexts, and make...

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

@etorix - Thanks for the heads-up on this, and for providing a link for me as well  Will give this a try, and hope it fixes the "fans constantly spinning up after macos boot" issue I currently have.

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

@NorthAmTransAm - Hi, yes, I'm using them both together. The CPUFriend & DataProvider that's currently in my /EFI/OC/Kexts folder, is one taken from CaseySJ's EFI, which is "using frequency vectors from (an) iMac Pro 1,1" according to their excellent build guide. I assumed that since their CPU...

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

Hi, I wanted to post one final update on HT, with my CpuTopologyRebuild.kext results. In Geekbench, with the kext enabled, I got scores of: Single Core: 1863 Multi Core: 11529 Which are in line with results from my Windows 11 installation. With the kext disabled, my scores were: Single Core...

    felbo's Build: Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X DDR4 - i7 12700K - AMD RX 580

@felbo - Hey, I just wanted to say thank you - for putting together this thorough guide for the Gigabyte Gaming X motherboard. In the end, it led to me to choosing the Gaming X to partner with my new i5-12600K CPU (knowing it was Hackintosh compatible). The USB diagrams also came in very useful...

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

@NorthAmTransAm - Hi, yes, I'm currently using it alongside CPUFriend & DataProvider. However, I only setup my new Alder Lake system just over a week ago (a motherboard and CPU swap), so I haven't had much time for testing yet - I'm still in the tweaking phase :) I might try and get some...

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

@NorthAmTransAm - Hi, I've come across this Lilu plugin/kext in my Hackintosh travels: https://github.com/b00t0x/CpuTopologyRebuild I don't know if this would let you enable HT in Monterey - it looks promising though.

[Success] AMD RX6000 Series working in macOS

@ThetaK7 - Perhaps all you need to do is add a scaled resolution for 2880x1620? I've used this in the past to add unsupported resolutions for my Intel iGPU: https://codeclou.github.io/Display-Override-PropertyList-File-Parser-and-Generator-with-HiDPI-Support-For-Scaled-Resolutions/ For an...

[Success] AMD RX6000 Series working in macOS

I've just upgraded to the Monterey 12.1 public beta, and can confirm that my AMD RX 6600 XT is working under this new update (I'm using an XFX Speedster QICK 308 card). I used an iMac19,1 SMBIOS, and added the "agdpmod=pikera" boot-arg to my OpenCore config.plist (WEG was installed in...

macOS 11.0 Big Sur Public Beta is Now Available

After an upgrade from one of the earlier Big Sur betas went wrong, my only option was to do a fresh install. That's as far as I got though, because I kept getting stuck on on the second stage of the installer, with every attempt ending in a reboot. Eventually, I found this very useful tool, the...

    How Compatible Are Most Apps

Hi, I recently came across this list of working and non-working apps in Big Sur, over on the MacRumors forum. I think it's been compiled for real - i.e. non-hackintosh - macs, but should still apply to our machines: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/big-sur-working-not-working-apps.2242312/

macOS 11.0 Big Sur Public Beta is Now Available

I finally managed to get the Big Sur Beta installed today. Despite my best efforts, my USB installer kept exiting during the first stage of installation (for no apparent reason). In the end, what fixed this for me, was redownloading the Big Sur installer. I also added "--downloadassets" to the...

    AMD Radeon Navi GPU

First of all, thanks for this great thread @Gigamaxx, and to all those who have contributed to it. It helped me decide that my next graphics card was going to be a 5700 XT. I was originally going to buy a Sapphire Nitro+ 5700 XT, but the MSI Gaming X 5700XT was slightly cheaper here in the UK...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Yes, I've enjoyed following your progress over on the discussion thread on InsanelyMac - thanks, I found it very useful & informative  There's a steep learning curve with OpenCore (at least for me) and as mentioned, it's yet to reach beta status, so each update has plenty of changes. I...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I've also been having a play with OC, version 0.04. This started because my Gigabyte Aorus Pro Wifi was having boot issues with OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000.efi in Clover (about 1 in 6 boots would end in a black screen). I'd also read forum posts warning against using this driver. As you mention...

[Success] Skylake Asus Maximus VIII Ranger, i5-6600, GTX 1070 (Clover/High Sierra)

@vodinh0000 - Hi, can I ask why you need my DSDT? For what purpose is it required? To be honest, I no longer use a DSDT for my hackintosh build - it' not needed - and quickly becomes outdated. I only use a custom SSDT for my USB ports, so they're all recognized by macOS...
