I had issues and deleting the AppleHPET.kext in S/L/E worked for me. But this was also in Lion 10.7. Seems the kext takes up ICQ addresses and monopolizes/reassigns them and can screw up the USB ports. Back up the kext and delete and see if it works. Did for me. Let us know.
