Monterey Public Beta on Asus X99 Deluxe II

Is native NVRAM working on your board? @CaseySJ I'm using your EFI with a few minor changes in Big Sur. Thanks! I haven't used this build in a long time and could have sworn I had native NVRAM support under Clover, but I definitely don't now. I am able to add emulated NVRAM via OC's logouthook...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

CaseySJ--will you or Elias be releasing instructions or modified BIOS'es for PEI/DXE drivers being inserted into the BIOS? Apologies if this is already addressed somewhere in here.

I take it your case doesn't offer a side-mount option for a GPU? Then you could run a ribbon cable to it and not care if it was slightly more than 1 lane in thickness. Still requires re-doing the loop though. =/

    X299 Big Sur Support

Yes, for a non-Slot 2 that would be shorting the 3+5 pin on the header. I've done a fair amount of messing with dual TR on SAGE/10G and the second card is always a bit problematic, including that freezing issue you noted. I could get the card to show properly in IOreg, but it didn't help...

Did you add to boot-args: agdpmod=pikera You need that flag with Navi and Big Navi.

    X299 Big Sur Support

Correct. The SAGE/10G manual states that you should install the Thunderbolt card in Slot 2. Then Enable it in the BIOS, enable force power, and you now have a completely normal PC00.RP05 address. Can't you re-route the liquid cooling? I would recommend that. Putting a flashed TB3 card in any...

    X299 Big Sur Support

Does anyone have a Highpoint NVMe card working in Big Sur with an ASUS X299 SAGE or SAGE/10G? If so, can you please send me your EFI or let me know what you did to get it working. My 7101A-1 is only visible to the RAID manager if in Slot 2, but TB3 needs to go in Slot 2. Thank you!

I see that macworld interprets that as you do, that the MacPro will have Apple Silicon for June 2022. I guess nothing is stopping Apple from making a lower-performing MacPro. Macworld also indicates that Apple is currently designing two MacPro's right now--one with Intel and one with Apple...

    X299 Big Sur Support

Ah, yes. I should have said the first G5 not the last. Additionally, Apple is not going to be rolling out subsequent MacPro7,1's, other than a CPU refresh perhaps, so all we have is a first release there. So 2003-2009 for support for G5 from Apple. If you bought the last G5 release, then 2005-2009.

    X299 Big Sur Support

The last PPC (G5) was released in 2003. Snow Leopard dropped support in 2009. The MP7,1 was released December 2019, so the same support window would be 2025. Equally importantly, the M2 obviously can't be used in a MacPro level machine, and if they stick to only +4 cores for M3 (so 16) or +50%...

<< Solved >> Install Nvidia Web Driver for Build ID 17G66 (BRAND new High Sierra build???)

If you are using gibMacOS to download your 10.13.6 image simply make sure to press M and set the highest OS version to 10.13. Then the last choice will be 10.13.6 17G6030 so no need to anything extra when you complete the install before the web drivers. If you aren't using gibMacOS then start.

I finally moved over to OC fulltime on my X299/i9-7920X, but I'm not seeing how to change the CPU-type as one did in Clover. What field do I need to edit to have Xeon W, or whatever value, rather than "Unknown" Thanks!

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

@CaseySJ After flashing my current state is: -Thunderbolt controller will power up regardless of devices connected -TB3 hotplug works on both ports (hmm, although DSB4 is temperamental at time. I thought I just addressed it, but still happening sometimes) -USB-C controller will not power up...

Geekbench is a poor benchmark as it is extremely synthetic. Cinebench would be better, or actual real world testing. With Cinebench you will see exactly the difference you would expect. A 14-core at the same frequency as a 12-core will be 16.67% higher in multicore performance. I can't imagine...

    Asus X299 - Support

There is no clock for clock difference between the 7xxx, 9xxx, and 10xxx CPUs. The 10xxx tend to be able to clock higher as heat is less of a problem in my experience. Obviously a 14-core will have a higher multi-core score, but you both should be able to achieve pretty close to the same...
