macOS 14.2 Update - I have to pull out my nvme drive

Hi all, I’m still having the issue I had with 14.1 which is that the install process cannot go beyond the first reboot and having to select « macOS installer » in OC picker. After that it’s the error message «ocb startimage failed - aborted » . The workaround I found is pulling out my nvme drive...

    macOS 14.1 Update

Had to download the full installer too, no delta update made available. Major issue with install procedure after second reboot : infinite reboot loop and previous system (14.0) unbootable. Tried to do a clean install on a new nvme drive : same issue. On an usb 3.0 external SSD the install...

No boot with Ryzen 7800X3D/ Gigabyte B650 Gaming AX

Well I managed to do it by making a standalone usb installer for Sonoma. Don’t know why I had this issue doing it from the Ventura desktop.

    Asus Z690 ProArt Creator WiFi (Thunderbolt 4) + i7-12700K + AMD RX 6800 XT

Hi, I suspect the AMD patches for Ventura 13.3+ used to work with Sonoma betas but no longer with the final release. I'm unable to boot the Sonoma installer but tweaking with "max kernel" values on those patches takes me further in the boot process, still not to GUI territory.

No boot with Ryzen 7800X3D/ Gigabyte B650 Gaming AX

Yeah thanks but It's likely that the AMD patches for Ventura 13.3+ don't work with the final version of Sonoma that came out today. Got further in the boot process by changing "max kernel" values but still no luck. Will post my findings in the other thread. Thanks

No boot with Ryzen 7800X3D/ Gigabyte B650 Gaming AX

Any idea why Ventura boots but Sonoma does not ? Anyone on AMD managed to do it ?

No boot with Ryzen 7800X3D/ Gigabyte B650 Gaming AX

Hi @Leesureone ! Have you been able to upgrade to macOS 14 ? No luck for me, I'm stuck right after launching the installer from the OC picker. I figured the culprit might be the AMD Vanilla patches that need updating and I tweaked the "max kernel" parameter but still no luck. If you happen to...

No boot with Ryzen 7800X3D/ Gigabyte B650 Gaming AX

Well thank you both for your help you made my day ! I got further in the boot process by disabling tpm and I got to the desktop by using your EFI folder. I’m now gonna tweak it with my smbios info and I’m good to go. Again thanks guys !

No boot with Ryzen 7800X3D/ Gigabyte B650 Gaming AX

Hi, I upgraded to zen4 and I'm unable to boot Ventura 13.5 (full system or installer) since then. My GPU is the Radeon 6800XT and my NVME drives are a pair of Crucial p5. Using the same EFI folder that used to work with my zen3 setup gives me a prohibited sign right away (although I updated the...

[GUIDE] Replace non-working Intel I225 with 82574L PCIe NIC (Monterey + OpenCore)

Hi Jay, I'm not getting a 100% stable connexion after all. 3-4 times a day I lose my internet access (although the link is still up and IP address is still valid) and I have to delete and add the interface in sysprefs to get it working again. Swapping with another identical NIC did not solve...

[GUIDE] Replace non-working Intel I225 with 82574L PCIe NIC (Monterey + OpenCore)

Hi Jay, Yeah I got this part but the one I don't is why, in your case, did you use 0x10F60000 instead of the values given in the info.plist file (0x104b8086 or 0x10f68086) ?

[GUIDE] Replace non-working Intel I225 with 82574L PCIe NIC (Monterey + OpenCore)

Hi Jay, Other dots I'm unable to connect : where do you get the 0x10F60000 value from the "IOPCIPrimaryMatch" key on your screenshot ?

[GUIDE] Replace non-working Intel I225 with 82574L PCIe NIC (Monterey + OpenCore)

Ok great ! Will use that + your guide to try and make an i210 NIC work on my other Ryzentosh. Thanks again jay.

[GUIDE] Replace non-working Intel I225 with 82574L PCIe NIC (Monterey + OpenCore)

I bought the very same NIC and followed your tutorial : Worked like a charm ! thanks a lot Jay ! Would you please explain how 9hAAAA translates to 0x10F60000 to match the PID ? Understanding this would allow me to replicate this to other NICS (i210 for that matter).

macOS Monterey final / NVME issue

Thanks but none of that worked. I regretfully bought a Gigabyte mainboard but kept my MSI because it worked flawlessly (including sleep) and we can be hopefull on 3 fronts : a 12.1 or 12.x version of Monterey that might (not intentionally) fix the issue. a bios update from MSI that might (not...

macOS Monterey final / NVME issue

Yeah i found out on other forums that it's specific to MSI motherboards with recent Bios. Only way to solve this issue so far is to revert to a 2019 bios AND a zen / zen+ / zen2 CPU. I see you have a 3600 Zen2 CPU so it could be done in your case, for me I'll stick with Big sur for the time being.

macOS Monterey final / NVME issue

Hi. If what you mean by "create your drive" is what partition type and what file system I used then the answer is that I could not get to that point because no physical drive is detected (and no nvmexpress controller in system summary by the way). My guess is that Monterey handles NVME...

macOS Monterey final / NVME issue

Hi everyone, I'm having an issue with the final version of macOS Monterey. The installer is unable to detect my NVME drives, only external USB devices are shown in disk utility. Installation on an external device is able to complete but leads to the same issue. Those same Crucial P5 drives work...
