Mini PC AMD Ryzen 7 5700U - Need Installation Help

Hello, this is a know problem on Sonoma. Severe compute crashes on macOS 14.

    GenMachine Ren5000

I ask because this is a problem on iGPUs, e.g. with iGPUs on intel processors (HD 530, HD/UHD 630) support for more than one monitor was very problematic.

Hi everyone, does the second monitor work on GenMachine Ren5000 under macOS? Thanks.

Sonoma - audio low power mode problem

Ok, so far I solved it by modifying @mattsday script.

Sonoma - audio low power mode problem

Hi all. On macOS Sonoma, the sound problem we last had many years ago came back to me. When no sound plays for a while, about 20 sec, the sound card goes into low power state mode and then if any sound is supposed to play, part of that sound doesn't play or doesn't play at all. This is most...

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

I've said it here before, don't use CPUFriend + CPUFriendDataProvider.kext provided here on iMacPro1,1 SMBIOS, it has injected frequency vectors from iMacPro1,1. You don't need to use the frequency vectors from iMacPro1,1 on iMacPro1,1 SMBIOS, it doesn't make any sense.

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

For Sidecar you need Intel iGPU or T2 chip... so on Alder Lake its no go.

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

Hello @CaseySJ, can you try this CPUFriendDataProvider.kext with iMac20,X frequency vectors, but with corrected QoS values?

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

@CaseySJ can you rerun benchmark with iMac20,2 SMBIOS without CPUFriend pls? I want to see if we could use vectors from iMac20,2 with Comet Lake CPU which is closer to Alder Lake than iMacPro with Intel Xeon W. EDIT: Or wait, I'll prepare a CPUFriendDataProvider.kext with vectors from iMac20,2...

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

If you switching SMBIOS, the results can vary, because every SMBIOS uses different frequency vectors, BUT if you switching SMBIOS and always overwrite frequency vectors with vectors, for example, from iMacPro1,1 you will have similar results.

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

It looks like @CaseySJ used "CPUFriendDataProvider.kext with iMacPro1,1 frequency vectors" in these test, so it should be same as on MacPro7,1 with same kext...

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

If you are using CPUFriend in tests with the kext I dropped here, you should mention, that it use iMacPro1,1, frequency vectors. Something like "CPUFriend enabled + CPUFriendDataProvider.kext with iMacPro1,1 frequency vectors".

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

So, if you are using iMacPro1,1, don't use CPUFriend + CPUFriendDataProvider.kext provided here, its created for MacPro7,1. Whats in "AVX Disable"? This is how enable AVX512 looks like on Asus BIOS.

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

Which SMBIOS are you using in the first test? "CPUFriendDataProvider.kext" i dropped here have injected frequency vectors from iMacPro1,1... so if you are using SMBIOS iMacPro1,1 it should have the same Geekbench result with and without this kext. Do you have enabled AVX512 in BIOS? If all E...

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

Yes, true, but all real world apps test that I see on Windows have better results with all P cores on/all E cores off and HT enabled than all P cores on/all E cores on and HT disabled. Edit: And there is another one problem for using E cores... you need OS scheduler to make decisions about...

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

Thanks. So until we figure out a way to get all the cores up (P+E) with HT, this is the best setup for now. Its 6 P-cores and HT for 12600K ;)

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

Nice :) Whats your Geekbench 5 with all P cores on, E cores off and hyperthreading on? It should be even better.

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

    Where does verbose boot end?
  19. darthsian

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

Its from /System/Library/Extensions/IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/X86PlatformPlugin.kext where Apple has stored plist files with frequency vectors for all Macs. When you use iMacPro1,1 it will get frequency vectors from the corresponding plist file... Mac-7BA5B2D9E42DDD94.plist...

Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

Hello, CPUFriend is definitely a better solution. No need to change MacPro7,1 SMBIOS, just inject frequency vectors from iMacPro1,1 to CPUFriendDataProvider.kext and use it together with CPUFriend.kext. Edit: I attach CPUFriendDataProvider.kext with iMacPro1,1 frequency vectors (Use it together...
