Thank you Pilgrim. Avid’s 11 rack driver was the culprit. Once I swapped out my Avid keyboard with an Apple, I was able to boot to safe mode and did an uninstall of the software ,which froze it during install and then threw the kernel panic. For some reason the computer, when using the Icon...
Been having stability issues with this old build recently but was still functional. However, today I got this kernel panic upon startup. Any help from the experts would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

Using Macpro 3.1 at the moment although system def was imac14,2 before all this. Using migration assistant now from time machine backup to transfer files. Hopefully all remains well.
Thanks again for your patience and understanding.

You guys are great!

When I clicked the SMbios tab the app reported it couldn’t find the file. So I selected one from the pre made SMbios drop down menu iMac14,2 and saved it to the desktop. The wizard now sees the file on the desktop but I can’t seem to find a way to get to the extras folder in the usb to transfer...
TRS/Pilgrim,
Can someone please assist with using Chameleon wizard?
I have the mavericks installer USB inserted into the iMac I used to create the USB, when I open up chameleon wizard it opens on the install screen. When I click on my target partition, the usb, it wants to update the boot...
Thanks TRS. I will try the app you suggested if you feel this is my best option, but have to admit this is territory I have never entered into. Hoping this app is intuitive enough for inexperienced users like myself to accomplish goal.
Trying to duplicate my original install back in 2014 I used unibeast 3.0.1 to create the usb. I downloaded it from Downloads >tonymacx86 tools >Archives.
I will try disabling the xmp profile 1 to see if that helps.
What is my best choice to get a 14.2 system def? Recreate the Mavericks usb...
Thanks. I thought Multibeast after install was the method used to change system def from Mac pro 3.1 to iMac 14.2. If so I couldn’t run it because of the kernel panic.
Will using unibeast 5.2 change system def?
TRS96,
I was able to make the mavericks USB using unibeast 3.0.1.. Prior to doing the install I tried to update the motherboard bios from F3 to F7 as I did back in 2014. However using Q flash I was unable to transfer file from usb.
I went ahead with F3, loaded optimized defaults, set xmp to...
Trying to create the Mavericks usb with Unibeast 3.0.1 but when I get to the installation type screen the 10.9 file size only reads 9 mb but the file size in finder states 5.35GB .
HELP! Not sure what to do from here.
Thanks
After signing out of the App Store and signing back in I was able to get it to download Mavericks! Now I will try creating usb with unibeast 3.0.1 as I did in 2014.
I figured I would try updating the old IMac while I was waiting for the mini. The update to El Cap was successful on the iMac and I can now sign in to the App Store and view purchases. My Mavericks purchase from 2014 is there but when I try to download Mavericks I get a spinning wheel. Any...
Thanks I did just that and hopefully will solve it . I’ll let you know how I do when I get the mini in 5 days. I appreciate your help and patience.
Thanks,
BobG
TRS, Here are my latest efforts:
I tried creating a usb with the El cap link above using unibeast 6.1.1 on my new MacBook Pro. When I download the file from the link you provided, I get a InstallMacOSX.dmg file and it doesn’t go to applications it stays in downloads. So I double click it and it...
