Since updating to El Capitan handoff has stopped working

Thanks for that reply. That tool was a lifesaver for my old MacBook Air, glad to see that it worked for you.

Well, as of 10.11.1, my Continuity/Handoff works fine. I have NO IDEA if it was caused by the 10.11.1 update, the fact that iOS came out with 9.1, or anything else!

For what it's worth - I did get a response from OSXWIFI, they pointed to many of the USB issues reported elsewhere on this site and provided a few links. I did not have success here either, but I think it's important to point out/remind that the card itself uses USB assignments to operate, thus potentially causing issue.

Here's a link to RehabMan's writeup:

I'm still nowhere with this problem.

I've done everything except for the more advanced USB stuff which I simply don't understand well enough to tweak. I'm normally a very technical person but somehow this seems more difficult than learning a programming language (DSDT's are not something I am familiar with).

The only component of the USB fixes I have implemented is the change EHC1 to EH01 and change EHC2 to EH02 Clover ACPI patches and I don't even know if they are relevant to my ASUS Z97-PRO. I also have the OSX Wifi card.

Does anyone know of a guide for El Capitan and USB issues specifically for this motherboard? I haven't been able to find anything.

To make things worse while Continuity/Handoff wasn't working previously, SMS syncing to iMessages (and iMessages itself) were working. Now the SMS's no longer sync to iMessages. Possibly since I updated to 10.11.1

Also, I don't know if it's of any relevance but I always get this from the Continuity Activation Tool diagnostics:

Verifying ContinuitySupport... Print: Entry, ":Mac-27ADBB7B4CEE8E61:ContinuitySupport", Does Not Exist
NOT OK. Unknown state. Your Mac might not be compatible.

And when I try to activate I get the following:

OS X reports Continuity as active.
Print: Entry, ":Mac-27ADBB7B4CEE8E61:ContinuitySupport", Does Not Exist
Patching ContinuitySupport... Set: Entry, ":Mac-27ADBB7B4CEE8E61:ContinuitySupport", Does Not Exist
OK.

So I have no idea what the problem is :/

EDIT: For what it's worth here is the entire diagnostic followed by attempted activation.

Somehow, through all my messing around Handoff now works, however, AirDrop has stopped working :/

It's like I can't win. Haven't found any useful information about diagnosing AirDrop problems..

Anyone know if having a 2.4Ghz/5Ghz Wifi network with both having the same SSID might cause problems? It didn't previously, but perhaps both devices were on the same frequency? Even so, I think it should work even without Wifi being enabled on the Hackintosh.

So mihalski I have Literally the same setup as you and have struggled with the exact same "no print" error for continuity support with the CAT. Air drop and messaging is working tho for me.

Have you you had any further luck with handoff?

I just tried again.. I logged out of iCloud and made sure that the Continuity Activation Tool was happy with my system.. After a reboot I checked the capabilities and got this:

cat /var/log/system.log | grep -i handoff

May 4 11:05:22 fortress sharingd[418]: 11:05:22.536 : Device Capabilities (Handoff:NO, Instant Hotspot:NO, AirDrop:YES, Legacy AirDrop:YES, Remote Disc:YES)

No idea why Handoff is NO as I KNOW the system is capable of it and and Continuity Activation Tool things so too. Going to log back into iCloud but I don't expect anything to change :/ Ultimately the OSXWifi purchase was a waste of money.

EDIT: And for the record, AirDrop doesn't work either.

run this command on terminal

cat /var/log/system.log | grep -i handoff

if the output is such like this (notice the red font )
Oct 9 08:18:03 Wangs-iMac sharingd[322]: 08:18:03.128 : Device Capabilities (Handoff:YES, Instant Hotspot:YES, AirDrop:YES, Legacy AirDrop:YES, Remote Disc:NO)

that indicate you have activated handoff on your hacknitosh.

then sign off apple id On your IOS device, and re-sign in again.

I tried this and got the following:

iMac:~ simon$ cat /var/log/system.log | grep -i handoff

Any ideas?

If I get a WIFI card not supported, will that prevent me from using Continuity and/or Handoff?

I don't understand why I need a WiFi card, I am trying to Unlock my Mac with Apple Watch.

Why do I need WiFi? Isn't ethernet good?

Thanks!
