I'll try the windows 10 because why not .

but also I don't have a console.

I'm not exactly spoilt, things that you would consider maybe is an iPhone 4, iPad mini 1st gen, and a 21.5 iMac with mediocre specs from 2010.

these laptops that we have though, their nothing special. I mean one of them the battery goes within 2 mins

also I have written down all the parts, and checked compatibility, and even started to try to write a full set of instructions on how I'm going to build the computer

Wow I feel sorry for you mate, your parents are so tough (you gotta do all that just to get things from them)

"When you are young, you will NOT get the perfect things in your life. You will NOT get the shinny new car, the best com that can run like a beast, and etc, etc. BUT I think that most students like your age are experiencing the same thing. We've all been there before-a bunch of teenagers bragging about how beast there com gonna be when they have money, how fast their car gonna be. But in reality we use 2nd hand laptop and cell phone from our brothers or sisters. You get the idea. For your age, I think that FRIENDSHIP is everything, even though we all are some students that cannot spend that much money, but we have our dream about our future, we have a lot of good friends and we spent good times together. I know all these sounds so corny, but one day you will miss it. You will miss the time that you and your friends can share some old gadgets and no one is gonna laughing at each other just because they are not wealthy. And that gonna change, when you grow up, lets say like 20-25, people will become more and more "REALISTIC" they will compare this and that , and give you bull**** if you could not keep up with them. They WILL show off their everything. And that moment you gonna realize that people change, everything changes."

OK, enough of that bull **** talking.

Here are some of my own experience and advise, hope can help you.
I am from China and I used to live in Singapore for almost 10 years.
The 1st desktop I have was at 2008. It is an acer desktop. Not the best of course.
The GPU is 9800GT. But it will do the work. The second desktop I bought is a second hand one.
And it is another acer desktop, with a Nvidia GT GPU. But guess how much I got it??Less than 550 USD(Include the monitor).

Let me tell you something about "technology" .
"DO NOT EVER BUY THE LATEST STAFF", why not??? Because they are not worth that much money.
Once the hype is gone, the value drop dramatically.

After I bought the second one, (the 1st one last me for 4.5 years, then it dies for no reason...), I slowly did some upgrade, bought new graphic cards and stuff.

What I am trying to say is: Do not build an over kill desktop especially this is your 1st time building it. No matter how many ppl are gonna help you, it is not their money you are spending. If somethings goes wrong, they wont shed a tear. But you will suffer. Imagine after the incident how do your parents will react??? Dont worry, I am not asking you to buy another old machine. But instead use your money wisely. Recently I have bought a second hand GTX780 ASUS from a local here at China. He used it less than a year. I got it for 330 USD(roughly). I think it works great for me.Not even having dirt on the card. BE PATIENT. SOMEONE GONNA THROW AWAY THEIR MONEY. Let it be someone, not you. I like your choice of GTX980. But other than that I think you maybe have to get the price down a little bit.

GAMING motherboard will not boost your FPS.
You might not need a corsir 900D case (but you can upgrade it in 2 years time??)
You might not need 4TB drives? Maybe 2TB is enough?
You might not need a 2k or 4k display. (this is personal, but I think 1080p for me is fine.)
You might not need a ass kicking water cooling set. A Hyper212 may do the job? (Again, you can upgrade it years later.)

If you find a good second hand deal, GO FOR IT. Better deal with the seller face to face. And leave their contact num, just in case.

Good luck with your first custom made desktop as well as first Hackintosh!
Post the pic no matter what you decide to do!

Good Luck!!!

Yes I did there is always a way to break someone (excuse how dark that sounded)
The secret is to get an computer technician/engineer who works for a parents friend to approve of your build.

person earlier in the thread, come on I know having a gaming motherboard won't boost fps

Personally you could go sandy bridge with a 980 I'm 17 so I know what u mean. Also wondering if you ever got the computer built
