I followed the guides on here to install OS X and Windows 8.1 onto an ASUS S400CA VivoBook. I partitioned a single hdd to 3 partitions, first two were for Windows and the third for Mavericks using the Mavericks Unibeast installer, installed Windows 8.1 and then returned to install OS X. The installations seem to go just fine with no hiccups. I then finally installed MultiBeast using the EasyBeast option and choosing the MacBook Pro 8,1 feature.

The issue is that when I restart the computer it always goes to the Windows 8.1 login. I never see the Chimera screen to choose the OS. The only way that I can get to the installed version OS X is via the USB installer. In the bios, the Windows Boot Loader p0 harddrive is whats selected as the boot device.

Also, via the chimera screen from booting with the USB installer, I see the Windows option, but I cant get to Windows using that method either. I get a Windows Boot Manager Error.

How do I get the machine to get to the bootloader? Can I use this to boot to either Windows or Mavericks?

Thanks

You likely installed Windows in UEFI mode. Make sure you install in legacy mode if you intend on booting it with Chimera/Chameleon.

Where exactly do I choose what mode to install Windows in?

Further - I just went back in with the unibeast usb installer, repartitioned the hdd with a MAC OS X Journaled partition and reinstalled Mavericks only. When I now go into the BIOS, that HDD is not even showing up as a choice in the boot order.

The BIOS is an American Megatrends version 2.15.1227

Chances are that if Win8.1 was factory installed on a board with UEFI BIOS that Win8.1 was installed UEFI by default. If you reformatted/repartitioned the drive GPT+ to install OS X, then installed Win8.1, it also probably installed UEFI. One way to tell is boot Windows and open the disk management tool and examine the HDD layout - presence of extra partitons in front of the main NTFS partition is usually an indication it is installed UEFI.

To force Win8.1 to install Legacy mode, you can disable UEFI in the BIOS if the Asus BIOS will let you do that.

BTW, you will get better help for that netbook if you post in the laptop forum.
