Well here is a pretty simple, clean Hackintosh build so far for Mountain Lion:
ASRock H77 Pro4-M
Intel i3-2100 Sandy Bridge (left over cpu, heh)
XFX GTX285
4x2gb Corsair XMS 1600 (Running 1333 due to SB cpu)
Corsair Force-3 120gb SSD
Apple Wired Keyboard (MB110LL/B)
Apple Magic Trackpad
Procedure:
-Purchased 10.8.1 from App Store (from same system running Lion 10.7.4).
-Created Unibeast USB stick and follow install per Tonymacx86 guide - http://www.tonymacx86.com/61-unibeast-install-os-x-mountain-lion-any-supported-intel-based-pc.html
-Initially performed an update over 10.7.4, but have also done clean install to verify both methods.
-After reboot, downloaded/run latest Multibeast only selecting:
-UserDSDT or DSDT-Free Installation (No DSDT on desktop)
-Realtek ALC892 (One listed under - Without DSDT)
-Lnx2Mac's RealtekRT81xx Ethernet
-SMBIOS Mac Pro 3,1 (Not sure if that is most accurate, just the one I used originally with 10.7.4)
-Eject Unibeast stick and reboot.
Everything working except sleep, and possibly power states as I do not immediately know how to check whether they are or not. Sleep mode looks to trigger, and even get a blinking power switch light, but will not wake up from any action (mouse, keyboard, short press of power button, nothing).
All software functionality works - AppStore, iCloud, etc - of course you have to have a valid Apple registration for those anyway, which is the only problem I could see anyone having. All other software functions, Time Machine, Software Update.
As I mentioned above the only visible lack of functionality is sleep mode, unknown power states, and my friggin GTX285 fan running at ~50% all the time unless it needs to run higher - but never lower, not terribly loud but would be great if it ran as quiet at the desktop as it does under Windows.
Performance is on par with what you would expect from the lowest i-series cpu and GTX285. However I have had up to 16 programs open at once, 3 or 4 of them reading/writing to hard drives at the same time, Lightroom batch processing a couple hundred raw files, surfing the web, and catching up on some sitcoms all at the same time (NetFlix) - could not even tell all that was going on in the background.
If anyone knows how to best address those minor cracks in what otherwise appears to be a rock solid build I would welcome any suggestions!
