Ok I read that it was my gtx 970 causing the problem. i got it to boot using -x nv_disable=1. it hangs though if i leave either of those out. I would prefer not to run in safe mode. any ideas? Thanks

Well now I feel foolish! thanks alot that was the problem. Some how the BIOS got switched back to IDE. changed it back to AHCI and it booted right up! thanks again
