I think I haven't told you in a while that, You Da Man!!! I suspect the \BOOT\BOOTX64.efi on my sdd got corrupted. I copied it from my USB, and now works fine.

Thanks for all your help Rehabman, I finally solved this by removing the 20gb Msata drive. This was somehow causing havoc with the W8 installer.

The only way I was able to get past those errors is to delete ALL partitions on the SSD (including the OSX created EFI partition), and use the install drive to create a primary partition
