Yes just install the IO80211Family.kext for atheros 9285, OSX will see the card as AirPort Extreme and you will have the wifi icon in the menu bar like a real mac. No need for a third party app, all the settings are done within OSX.

For a cheap alternative for the real airport card is the TP-Link TL-WN781ND PCI-Express card, it uses the Atheros 9285 chipset. No need for a third party utility. Using it on my Lion hack 64bit.

I have the same Tp-Link card. Mine is connecting with N just fine. maybe try another IO80211Family kext?
