    The Perfect Customac-Pro: X99-A II, i7-6950X, 128GB G.Skill TridentZ, Aorus GTX 1080 TI Xtreme

I got TB working with Asus ThunderboltEX Dual. For any audio people out there, the silver UAD apollo with TB1 doesn't work with the addon card. @kgp: Wondering if you had any thoughts. Tried to add a firewire card (Syba SY-PEX30016), but get a prohibitive sign after clover. Tried the card on 3...

To hack or not to hack (and just upgrade)?

Hi all We have a couple of older mac pro 2009 2x2.66 xeon 4,1 macs at the video editing dept. Doing some research but really getting conclusive answers... For purely use of Premiere Pro should I: 1. Upgrade GPU (if so which ones) and Ram 2. Or gut it out and make a customac (like I did with...

    MightyDood’s Mac Pro Mod (MacPro 1,1 2006)

I wasted enough time selling the parts (hate ebaying). Would've wasted even more of my time upgrading and then selling... for the sake of a hundred dollars or so. And... I actually made more money and saved time by selling the parts and getting on with my work, as I'm not a reseller and don't...

Very much so. Especially now people work at 88.2k, 96.1k or 196k, which puts at heavy loads on plugins. Even with an apollo quad, I still have to freeze some tracks to gain some headroom.

    MightyDood’s Mac Pro Mod (MacPro 1,1 2006)

Well I made $580 from the parts... and 1,1 on ebay were going for about $300-400 And you're probably right... most people would be ok with the power of the 1,1. But for me it doesn't come close. In fact I am pushing mine to it's limit already.

    MightyDood’s Mac Pro Mod (MacPro 1,1 2006)

Yep... sold all the parts separately (mb, cpu, gpu, dvd, ram, fans... everything except the psu) Didn't make $800. No-one seemed to think that the 1,1 was $800!! YOu should've contacted me earlier... I would've sold it to you for $800 for sure! :)
