    So...?

Is the free 10.8 update (for those of us who bought new Macs after June 11) a download that can be used for this purpose?

    Two Tier OSX????

The world has changed since the last time they licensed their OS to other vendors; now, computers are a sideline for them. In fact, recently Anand mused concern that PCs had become a burden for Apple.

Mac OS X 10.8 "Mountain Lion" Developer Build Announced

Mobile devices are not the next big money pool, they are the big money pool and they have made Apple rich. Desktops and laptops are now a sideline for them, as the graph supplied earlier shows, and have been for some years. That explains their indifference to their product line lacking an...

Mac OS X 10.8 "Mountain Lion" Developer Build Announced

With Windows, it's the device manufacturer's responsibility to produce drivers, not Microsoft's, and that extends to the chipsets. It would be the same with Apple. Microsoft's business model with regards to Windows centers on OEM licensing agreements with third parties like Dell. And with...

Mac OS X 10.8 "Mountain Lion" Developer Build Announced

Modifying OSX to run on generic hardware would be simple. (Heck, we're doing it.) And Apple, now that they're "on their own," may be re-evaluating Jobs' stance on licensing OSX for other hardware. Their internal research may be suggesting that PC software margins are more lucrative than hardware...

Mac OS X 10.8 "Mountain Lion" Developer Build Announced

Everything used in the enterprise is part of the enterprise market, including workstations. Many IT staffers don't like learning new technologies; if they'd had their way, we'd still be on Windows 3.X. They complained vociferously about Windows 95 and 98, then howled about Windows 2000 and XP...

Mac OS X 10.8 "Mountain Lion" Developer Build Announced

There's plenty of money to be made from software -- look at how big Microsoft became on software sales. Take the $140 MSRP of a copy of Windows 7 Professional, for example. Meanwhile, how much can Apple be making on a low-end Core i5 (500gb hard drive) Mac Mini that sells for $570? Or a 27-inch...

Mac OS X 10.8 "Mountain Lion" Developer Build Announced

Mac enterprise sales soar 66% in one quarter. The enterprise market is worth billions -- why would Apple want to leave that on the table?

Question about sleep problem with 10.6.8

It's probably solvable, but the information is scattered across the Web. One suggestion I've seen is it's incorrect USB device IDs that OSX can't identify. There is a USB kit that Apple offers for download that can be used to debug this issue. It's hit-and-miss with point-and-click solutions...

Question about sleep problem with 10.6.8

Mine (H67M-D2-B3 rev 1.0 F5) won't sleep, either. Same symptoms.

Voodoo HDA Audio Fuzzy Background Noise

I had trouble with that, but muting the input volume corrected it. Apparently VoodooHDA cannot determine when no microphone or input device is attached.

    GA-H67M-D2-B3 sleep doesn't work

Thanks -- I tried that but still no sleep. I am wondering if this problem is due to incorrect IDs for USB devices. I am not the only one experiencing this problem with this board.

    GA-H67M-D2-B3 sleep doesn't work

Hello all: My build has a GA-H67M-D2-B3 rev. 1.0 F5; I have installed 10.6.8 and everything works, including the 5670 video card, apart from sleep. From reading posts here, I am not the only one with this problem. Can anyone suggest what might be the issue, i.e. USB? And what might fix it...

    A tonymacx86 Build - GA-H67M-D2 + i5-2500k - Radeon HD 5770

I think I'm going to have to create my own DSDT to get this to work.

    A tonymacx86 Build - GA-H67M-D2 + i5-2500k - Radeon HD 5770

I am having the same troubles -- sleep doesn't work. I am wondering if this board is slightly different -- it is revision 1.0, BIOS F5.
