No. These CPUs aren't compatible like that. E.g. Apple's ARM is a package that contains a load of custom fixed function hardware not available on any other ARM-style processors. There's a good chance you will never be able to buy an ARM-CPU that is compatible with ARM-macOS.

Why do you assume that? I'm running a Ivy Bridge hackintosh, currently with an iMac 2013 profile. But I kinda do expect to bump that up to 2014 when necessary.

Well I see no reason to buy a new motherboard when there are existing and working PCIe LAN adapters since everything else works just fine. Apparently there's GE1000LAB-E but its predecessor had problems with Gigabyte's Z77 boards. I found no info about the new version though.

So... what to do now? Is your best bet using a well supported external PCIe LAN adapter (in case such a thing exists)?
