Alright, Thanks a lot, my laptop only has USB 3.0 so I guess that was the issue. Sucks about the wifi though, I dont really need it I only need OS X for video editing and stuff.

I just bought this laptop after my macbook pro died, and I'm having some issues trying to dual boot mountain lion and windows 8. I have windows 8 pre installed as UEFI and I don't have a CD for it/unsure how to make one. Is it possible to install os X as non uefi and just switch the bios...
