    X299 Big Sur Support

Thanks! I'll take a look. Both Catalina and Big Sur working with same OpenCore, BIOS on this ASUS X299-A seems to be lower than 3201 and the MSR lock is still working and everything booting fine.

    X299 Big Sur Support

Yeah which is why I had the Vega in what the mac seems to be recognizing as Slot 1, but in "sys info" it's showing it in Slot-2 now, which I would have thought not what it wanted. It wants the 5700 in Slot-1??! But yeah, the Vega is now in the physical top slot instead of the 5700. So you're...

    X299 Big Sur Support

This worked. Simply swapping the 2 graphics card slots, fixed the issue, at least with opening "About this Mac". Hope this is helpful to someone someday :)

    X299 Big Sur Support

So my own post made me try other things non-software, given I feel I'd logically tried all software possibilities. If I unplug the 2nd graphics card I have in there, in slot 1, (5700 sapphire GPU) it stops crashing on "About This Mac". I'm running the Vega 56 in Slot 2. Going to try swapping...

    X299 Big Sur Support

Hey all - happy new year. Thanks for this! I have a weird problem. I'll try to be succinct. Any help, much appreciated! My setup to the left, X299 Asus. I was on Catalina, and upgraded to the latest security update the other day as it kept bugging me to do it. Once logging in, the system...

Black Screen After Turning off Monitor w/ Vega 56

I think I have this issue too. I have the iMac Pro build as per that big thread, but with a Vega 56. I never sleep my mac (it's a Plex Server) but I do like to turn the displays off. It's fine at first but if I don't come back for a night or so, the displays will never wake up and yet the...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide] Dude. You're way off. I have never thought those things that my 'ideas are mind breaking'. And you're just being condescending by painting me that way. When I first was hackintoshing, that was what we did, said "hey this didn't...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

Got it, this will be the last time I try to give back to the community by detailing my experience. I see clearly it's not appreciated. Again, I wasn't trying to get support or submit a 'bug' or even ask you for help. Hackintoshing is an art, not a science, and whatever way we can make things...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

I'm not trying to get support to address 'current issues'. I was just posting that I made everything work just fine with a different system def, and the issue around H.264 as I hadn't seen many people talk about that before - hoping it might point someone in the right direction if they struggled...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

Hm, I had a SSDT-X299 in the patched folder from High Sierra, but not that other file, and it was from High Sierra from when I originally built it. I took them all out and left Patched folder empty after it all broke, went back to your vanilla files and tried to build from there. I'd be open to...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

I followed this guide which had me up and running with an amazing system. Thanks for all the work. I upgraded to Mojave couple of days ago, all went smooth but it killed all but one DP connectors on my Vega 56 (from Amazon: XFX Radeon Rx Vega 56 8GB 3xDP HDMI Graphic Cards). Everything was...

Should I leave an old GTX 680 in my hack with a Vega 56?

So update - I tried without the GTX 680. The Vega worked fine, but no HDMI port to the DVI monitor. Swapped out for a DP 4K piece of #$$$ Sceptre (not very bright, but ok for email). So all up and running. I think the only ports that work are DP when you use an AMD card? I think I read that...

Should I leave an old GTX 680 in my hack with a Vega 56?

Ok? I changed my profile to my latest build, but I already had all details in my post for the hardware I'm referring to.

Should I leave an old GTX 680 in my hack with a Vega 56?

Hey guys! Just a random question. I built a new machine last week, and it's smokin'. A 7920X with the ASUS X299-A motherboard. I'm getting 2830 on cinebench, a huge jump from my 700-800 score on my previous hack, the 3930K from 2012 with a gigabyte x79-up4 motherboard. I had a GTX 980 in the...
