I'm trying to install OS X on my NV79. However, I'm trying mavericks.

Could anyone give me some clues as to how to mitigate my boot problem? I get to the text install screen where I can type boot flags. I try to boot and it just flashes the gray apple logo screen and restarts immediately.

My specs are:

Arrandale Core i5 430M
Havendale / Clarkedale Host Bridge Chipset
HM55 Southbridge
Mobility Radeon HD 5650 graphics

Do you have both Radeon and Intel HD graphics or just Radeon?

I don't know. I cant seem to find anything in CPU-id. Is there a quick way to check?

Windows device manager is only showing the radeon under display adapters.

Then you don't have both, so you can focus on making the Radeon work (if you had both, you'd focus on making IntelHD work and disabling Radeon).

Please provide complete details in your profile.

System: manufacturer/model
CPU: detailed CPU model + motherboard chipset
Graphics: all graphics devices + laptop internal screen resolution

For example, typical Ivy laptop:
System: HP ProBook 4540s
CPU: i5-3320m/HM76
Graphics: HD4000, 1366x768

Use CPU-Z on Windows to find CPU (Core iX-xxx) and motherboard chipset (HMxx). For a laptop, these details are important and affect critical installation procedures.

Sorry it took me so long to get back on this! Just now have some free time to work on the project.

Here are the specs you asked for, they're also in my profile.

System: Gateway NV7901u
CPU: i5-430m/HM55 express
Graphics: Radeon HD 5650, 1600x900

I have the same laptop. Have the same problem. Only difference is I only have the 1st Generation intel Graphics.
I used clover to make a installer but same thing. After a few seconds it just reboots the laptop.

Hardware:

Intel core i3 330m
4gb DDR3
1TB HDD
Intel Arrandale HD Graphics
17" Inch LCD.

Would anyone know what would cause the installer to reboot almost immediately after starting it ? Tried all sorts of boot flags, no help.
