I've been going kinda nuts past 4 days trying to get ML on my old 2,1. I followed Jabbawoks article to a T, multiple times and can't get it to load.. I always get "Unable to open BootCache.playlist"...
So after reading thru this forum I haven't come across a way to install ML on an actual Mac.. is it possible?

thanks

Yes it is possible.
You would need to change the video card.

I do not know if modbot will allow discussion of installation.
Only Tonymac installs can be discussed.

The answer is out there but not on Tonymac...

So unless Modbot or moderator gives OK that is all I will say

Why would you have a TonyMac build on genuine Apple hardware?

to run 64 bit efi on 32 bit efi you must turn it into a hackintosh or replace boot file.
A Mac Pro 1,1 or 2,1 will only run Lion otherwise

Not entirely true-
  • Any posts referencing unapproved installation software, methods, or websites will be deleted. Approved installation methods are as follows: iBoot, UniBeast or Clover.
Installing OS X on a genuine Mac is not against the rules.

Ummie..
You should look up Pike's Boot for Yosemite on 1.1 or 2,1...
I think Pike made some major contributions on this site also to get Yosemite going.

Tiamo's boot file will make Mavericks run.

Threads are long but first post will have instructions.

If you have access to a real Mac that runs either OSjust clone it.
Change permissions via sudo to remove current boot file in two places on clone.
Then install the new boot file in both places.

As said previously you will need to upgrade video card.
Later Mac cards on Apple approved machines will work.
The other option is to use non apple card.
Look at old TonyMac and current build lists.

Cards that have worked for me Apple GT 120, non Apple GT 430 GT630 GT 640

Building an installer for old machines is much harder.
Even iMessage works though you may have to call Apple support.
