Hi Everyone,
I installed Snow Leopard using iBoot and then copied it to another partition using Carbon Copy Cloner so I can still boot and alter my system if I mess up one partition. As far as I know I have an Arrandale processor but for some reason I get a kernel panic when trying to update to 10.6.8 unless I use UpdateHelper which is meant for sandy bridge users only.
Anyway, I updated to 10.6.8 with this method and ran Multibeast 3.9.1 with a DSDT which I extracted with DSDT editor by El Coniglio and fixed all its compile errors with DSDT Fixer from EVOx86. In Multibeast, I ran System Utilities and UserDSDT Install. I also upgraded Chimera to 1.6.
This partition now hangs on boot. I've read that it may be because my graphics is unsupported but I'm pretty sure this problem can be fixed so I can boot with a low resolution and no graphics acceleration but I don't know how to do this. I've attached the kernel.log file which may help explain why I can't boot.
kernel.log
The last message where it says the NTFS volume is dirty is because my windows hard drive is encrypted and can't be read properly (I think) but surely this shouldn't stop me booting.
I just want to be able to boot so I can run xMove or UniBeast and install Lion. Afterwards I will worry about making everything work. I posted this in the Lion section because when I used EasyBeast I could create a Lion installation partition with xMove but I couldn't boot to it. It is my understanding that hacking the DSDT and doing whatever else should allow me to boot into 10.6.8 and the Lion Installer Partition so I can install Lion. In terms of hacking the DSDT I know how to download and apply hacks to the DSDT using DSDT Editor but not much more.
I also want to know if to delete a kext you just delete it and run system utilities in Multibeast of if there is a special way of doing it and do I just change the DSDT in my extra folder to update the DSDT I boot with.
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.
Peter
UPDATE: I have managed to make everything boot and install Lion 10.7.2 by deleting AppleIntelHDGraphics.kext and AppleIntelHDGraphicsFB.kext from /S/L/E. Most of my questions still apply though.
