A few months ago, I tried to install OS X Yosemite via Uni/Multibeast. But when I booted after installing the Chimera Boot Leader, I heard a loud screech, almost like the computer was screaming. I had to turn it off, and just gave up from there on in, and continued to work with Windows 10. Is my laptop actually compatible.

SPECS
ASUS X550CA
Intel Core i5-3337U CPU (1.8GHz)
8GB RAM
Intel Graphics HD 4000
Don't know motherboard

Thanks for any help :headbang:

Follow the Clover guide linked from the FAQ.

I've read that, but when I say I am a real Mac noob, I really mean it. This is just for me to start using Mac without paying £999/$1099 for one to test. I don't know what kexts are, what bootloader I should use, or even how to use Terminal! (Really embarrassing). I am a trueman to Windows, and am trying to use Mac to expand my business.:banghead:

Prepare to learn. Alot.

RehabMan: I know the general gist of it (sorry if I use posh words, I'm British!), but is the loud scream/screech normal? How do I fix it? It almost deafens you.

No idea what you're referring to.

Are you using the Clover guide?

If you didn't follow the Clover guide, and have installed a bunch of stuff from Multibeast... start over. There is almost nothing in Multibeast for laptops, and for your hardware you should be using Clover instead of Chimera.

I was using the UniBeast/MultiBeast guide. I would use Unibeast and make a USB Drive with the Yosemite Installer on it. then I would install Yosemite normally, and split that hard drive into 2 partitions (one for Mac, other for Windows 10) and then install Yosemite. It would boot normally, then use Multibeast and use the DSDT-Free option. At that time, I didn't know how multibeast worked, and tbh I still don't know today. Then, it would restart with the Chimera Boot Loader, I would choose Yosemite, and It would start up, but then would scream at me. I had to turn it off, otherwise I would lose my hearing.

Read post #2.

A clean install with genuine Yosemite using Clover will result in non-working audio. Hence no possibility of the laptop "screaming".
