Rehabman... bigdonkey perhaps you guys have ran into this issue. I must have the worst luck in the whole world and I'm just getting really :banghead:l. So here' s the story... Like everybody else here i ordered my 1080p screen 6 weeks ago from laptopscreen.com. Before i ordered i suggested they test for dead pixels and they said they would. I ordered the B156HW01 V7 and when i got the screen, it took me 3 hours to install the first time, suffice to say,i was very happy with the display once i finally completed the install and tested it. I however noticed 3 dead pixels on it so i finally set it back for another. I begged them to check for dead pixels before they shipped and they promised. when i finally got the 2nd screen, it had one dead pixel right in the center of the screen, i couldnt live with it after a week i requested another replacement begging again they check for dead pixels. 5 days later i got the third screen and to my surprise, it had two dead pixels still. i was very fustrated because of how hard it is to keep taking out these delicate parts on the laptop risking breaking something. i suggested the the support person that perhaps i should try another model thats 1080p glossy and compatible with the 4530s since i wasnt having any luck with the B156HW01 V7, the guys suggested that comptatibe stock they had was the
LP156WF2(TL)(A1) i went along with it. I just got the screen in today and install it and im glad finally this one doesnt have any dead pixels. I was soo happy but the joy was short lived. This brings me to whats going on now.

When i start the laptop is goes into this giant resolution mode when i cant see the dock and i have to scroll down and get into the display settings to change the resolution. I've noticed its alway set to " best for build in display" when i reboot or power on. I have to go to scaled and pick 1920 by 1080p every time before the resolution goes back to normal. I NEVER had this issue with the other screen. i ve rebooted 10 times now and cold boot and the same thing happens
every time. i really would hate to send this screen back because of this especially if its a simple issue. i've already installed the graphics glitch fix and reinstalled the 1080p kext. Anyone has any ideas before i pull my hair completely out

Could it be EDID issue? Try using philip's EDID generator in the Probook installer and see how it goes...

I just tried the EDID and it didnt change the outcome . its always defaulting to best build for display and i dont even know what the resolution its set to. I always have to go in and pick scaled then choose 1920 x 1080p before it goes back to normal

Windows / Linux is ok though?
Pretty much out of ideas here, since I didn't run into this issue with my AUO B156HW01 v4.

Add into your chameleon plist in /extra

<key>Graphics Mode</key>
<string>1920x1080x32</string>

Reboot. Fixed it for me.

Thank you for that. it works but its not perfect but i'll take it over how it was before. this is good enough for a temp solution but it seems rehabman was right, it has something to do with the EDID but i havent been able to get it figured out yet. i think i might be keeping the screen after all... for now at least

Thanks ersterhernd, I will try this solution. I have 2 Probook 4530s's and this problem happens with the i3 shared graphics model that has an AUO B156HW01 v3 panel in it. The other model is a i7 with AMD 6490m and AUO B156HW01 v7. There are other differences between the 2 models in how they Hackintosh (one sleeps and wakes, the other crashes on wake). I will put up a new thread when I have documented more differences to see if any solutions exist, but for now, hopefully the resolution issue will be solved :)

I know its been a while since this was posted but did anyone get a solution to this as i have just upgraded to 10.8.2 and had this happen to my Probook 4530S (worked fine on 10.8.0)?
