Freezes on heavy disk IO and network traffic.
10.9.2 latest, on RamPage IV Extreme 3960x, 32GB, 2133, NOT overclocked.
3x 2TB striped RAID, and 2x 4TB mirrored RAID (OSX RAIDs, no RAID controller).
Linux memtest+ for a day did not find problems.
Another full linux day of 'openssl speed' on all cores (max load) ran fine, so did a 4TB rsync.
The OSX freeze seems to be network / disk related, a freeze can be produced by pretty much doing a 'rsync -avcH ...' of at least a TB (terabyte) to another machine. For the last couple of days, the rsync never finished. Starting a Time Machine backup also causes freezes. The ethernet link sends pause frame floods after the freeze.
It is a hard freeze, no kernel log entries, just stops.
Tried without DSDT and with Shiloh's DSDT instructions, no difference.
The motherboard LED display shows the all-ok AA code. Only a reset can bring it back.
I removed GenericUSBXHCI.kext/ because some people had issues with it. I did not install the Multibeast audio drivers as I am using a USB attached pro audio box (MOTU driver is up-to-date). The freeze still happens with only a keyboard/BT mouse attached. It does not appear display related, never sleeping or screen-saving has same freeze behavior.
Thanks
