Hey guys, I'm planning a Hackintosh build mainly for editing in FCPX and Davinci Resolve. I've been doing a bunch of research on which video cards works best with these apps and I realized something interesting. It seems that none of the Nvidia GPUs are configurable to run in tandem. But because the newest version on the Mac Pro has dual AMD GPUs, it seems it's possible to replicate this setup. I was wondering if that was how a system would read it. Would Final Cut utilize both of the cards? Or is it like having two Nvidia cards, where you can only pick which GPU to use?

I'm planning on buying two MSI Radeon 7970s for this setup. Any input would be greatly helpful.

Thanks for you time.

FCP X will use both the 7970s with zero configuration. You will need to ensure that any internal graphics cards is turned off in the BIOS as well. You can't mix and match different architectures. Don't forget to make sure you have a beefy PSU.

I use dual 5770s and they work very, very well.

You might want to look for 280x cards instead of 7970s. Also assume anything of fleaBay has been trashed doing Bitcoin mining.
