The update didn't turn off TRIM. I checked after the update and found the TRIM was still turned on. You can check by opening the System Information > System Report > SATA/SATA Express. Then, select the installation SSD.

Elite, this guide was an absolute lifesaver!

I decided to re-hack my machine this weekend, and once I got past updating my BIOS to UEFI (U1c BIOS for me), it was smooth sailing. Thanks again for putting such a great guide together!

I got a similar build with ML running like a charm.
I get another HDD and try to install the Maverick

I got problem. I got the same built exept i3 and the vga. which mine is the GT430.
After installing Mavericks i log in Mav and after 2 mins it freeze.
How can i see whats is the cause of freezing?

I havent yet connect the GT i use the onboard VGA for the moment

Do i have to update my bios to UEFI?
And if i get the update shall i have problem with the HDD with the ML installation?

Hi to answer your questions?

Step 1-I would update to uefi bios and use the proper settings ( much better then f9/regular bios) it fixes and updates board with previous issues

Step 2- Install the GT430 "use flags "GraphicsEnabler=Yes and delete AppleTyMCEDriver.kext (when inside mavericks)
See if this helps..

Note: you can also boot using -v flag and see if some kext(Driver) displays errors thats how you can tell what the cause of your freeze may be? also if ur use a DSDT that could also be causing issues.. ie your 10.8.5 one for mavericks ?..

Hope the following helps: GL

Thank you for this guide! It was a lifesaver.
Initially I have updated the BIOS from F10 to u1c and for some reason I could not get to successfully install the bootloader. Thank you for posting the u1b BIOS, perhaps this is the single place where you could download it. I have downgraded, followed the guide and now I have a working system.
Thank you again!

hey, DigitALL

NP, I know the 1ub is not longer on the gigabyte site.. but glad it worked out for you
P.S. I had issues with the new 1c bios.. as well so i went back to 1ub too

But from experience 1ub is better then 1c cuz ic is beta its even written in red on their site..
