nope, i didnt do that, i would press the FN and brightness up and down and the screen would get brighter and dimmer (just like on yosemite).

It does not work on current 10.12. At least not with macOS native controls for brightness. Your PC may be handling it in ACPI or in the EC directly (no OSD from macOS in that case).

yes, it did on my old lappy! :)

Sorry, but it really does not. NX keys are broken. There is widespread confirmation of the problem.

Like I said, you probably have BIOS/ACPI control of brightness not control via macOS.

i'm not gonna argue with u as you have helped me out before and you know your stuff (also i may need help in the future!) :) :)

Really curious to test Sierra now... I'm gonna install it today and see what else has changed...

So can we still map audio keys like we do with the brightness keys with methods _Qxx to get it working again? Or is there any other solutions?

No. Audio keys are handled via PS2.

Note that volume keys on a USB keyboard work just fine, but that is a completely different setup (USB drivers vs. PS2 drivers).

Or is there any other solutions?

No known solutions.

I still didn't get the clear picture, so if they're handled via PS2, the PS2 driver would still be able to respond to them, wouldn't it? What exactly did break?

The PS2 driver works.... and sends the ADB codes just as it always done. But ADB codes that correspond to NX events don't work. It affects other software such as Karabiner too...

No problem at all when Rehabman is there. It would be fix when final version release. You ROCK Rehabman.

But I'm not sure this issue is *fixable* at all... The problem is in Apple's drivers which are not open-source...

Please correct me if I'm wrong :(
