I decided to install OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 today on my second hard drive to do a clean install, since trying to upgrade from OS X Lion 10.7.4 didn't work very well when I tried it a month or so ago. I used MultiBeast v5.2.1 with Chimera v1.11.1 r1394 and installed Mountain Lion on my Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3 motherboard (BIOS F10) with a Intel Core i5-2500K CPU and XFX Radeon HD 6870 video card.

Everything went smoothly and I am typing this now on my new Mountain Lion system, but I have run into the Messages problem as stated in iMessage Won't Work thread.

I am also not allowed to log into FaceTime or iCloud on this system. My OS X Lion system allowed me to log into FaceTime the last time I tried it and I don't think I ever tried iCloud before on that system. The Messages Beta worked on Lion until it expired on December 14, 2012. Is this when the Messages on Mountain Lion log in problems started?

When I try to log into FaceTime I get the following error message: "The server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later." I am able to sign in and see my iPhone's number and email addresses related to my Apple ID, but when I click "Next" and it tries to verify and connect I get the error. I have also capture the messages that appear in Console when trying to log in if this helps:

iCloud is also not allowing me to log in. When I try to log in it tells me the following: "Cannot Sign Up - This Apple ID is valid but is not an iCloud account." When I look at the console I see a bunch of code, but the following items stuck out to me:

- ErrorID = "ICLOUD_UNSUPPORTED_DEVICE"
- Description = "Cannot create another iCloud account with this device".

I have attached two screen captures of the error messages if they help.

I tried changing my serial number based on iCloud - The Official Thread and that didn't seem to matter for any of the above.

I also tried the following fixes, but neither or them worked:

- “Apple ID is valid but is not an iCloud account” on Hackintosh FIXED!
- Quick Hackintosh Tip: iCloud & App Store Fix

The App Store is working for me and I just purchased, downloaded, and installed CSR Racing in the background while creating this post. The App Store was working from the start and is still working even after trying all the fixes above. I even tried logging out and back into the App Store to see if I broke it and it is still working. It sounds like the App Store shouldn't be working if iCloud isn't working, so this is confusing me.

I don't mind trying some other things, but I don't want to start changing lots of things and messing up my whole system if this is something I cannot fix at this time.

Any ideas or suggestions on how to fix Messages, FaceTime, and iCloud would be appreciated and if you need any more info from me let me know.

I fixed my problem iCloud and FaceTime problems after finding the solution under the iCloud Mountain Lion Issue Unable to sign in thread.

These are the steps I took to get FaceTime and iCloud working again:

1.) Removed "com.apple.network.eapolclient.configuration.plist" and "NetworkInterfaces.plist" files under the "Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration" folder.
2.) Removed network adapter under "System Preferences -> Network".
3.) Shutdown my computer.
4.) Physically removed my Rosewill RC-401-EX Network Card from the computer.
5.) Boot into the BIOS and enabled the onboard Realtek network adapter.
6.) Started OS X 10.8.2.
7.) Installed "Realtek - Lnx2Mac's RealtekRTL81xx v0.0.90" driver using MultiBeast 5.2.1.
8.) Rebooted
9.) Added the new network as "Ethernet" under "System Preferences -> Network".
10.) Rebooted
11.) Signed into FaceTime and iCloud without any problems. I even tried signing out and back into these services and they worked as expected.
12.) Shutdown OS X.
13.) Installed Rosewill RC-401-EX Network Card into computer.
14.) Boot into the BIOS and disabled the built-in Realtek network adapter.
15.) Started OS X Mountain Lion.
16.) The Rosewill RC-401-EX Network Card was automatically working, since it is support by OS X out of the box.

I didn't uninstall the Realtek kext and maybe I should??? How would I go about uninstalling the "Realtek - Lnx2Mac's RealtekRTL81xx v0.0.90" driver?

After doing the above I logged in and out of iCloud with my Rosewill RC-401-EX Network Card without any problems. I was also able to place a FaceTime call to my wife without any problems.

I am not sure why this process worked, but it must be something related to the hardware or network card ID and by doing this it created a new one or reset the existing one allowing iCloud and FaceTime to work again.

The only thing that still isn't working for me is Messages and it sounds like a lot of people are still having problems with that.
