Hello, this is my first build. My specs include:

Intel i7 3.5 GHz Ivy Bridge

Gigabyte ga-z77x-ud5h Z77 motherboard

Lion 10.7.4

After installing Lion everything was working well... but after I changed a few bios settings to attempt to get sleep working-- I came across this problem.

I tried to test sleep, and the screen would not change from the black sleep screen. So, I forced it to shut down by holding the power button. Now, there seems to be no power getting to my motherboard... does this mean the mobo is fried or is there a way to fix it?

It could possibly be the PSU... I'm hoping its not any other components.

Any advice is more than welcome!

Turn the switch on the power supply off for 10 seconds. Turn it back on and try again.

I have tried that with no luck... At this point, I have removed everything but one stick of RAM, the CPU, and the fans. Still I cannot get any power.

The closest to powering on it gets it a single flash of the motherboard power button when i reset the PSU or press the CMOS button...

I'm thinking the motherboard may be messed up now but i suppose I aught to try using a different PSU and maybe a different CPU before buying a new mobo.

Well the solution this time was simple- I replaced the 3-Volt CR2032 battery on the motherboard and then it worked perfectly (besides sleep which I haven't fixed).

I'm not sure why my brand new motherboard had a close to dead battery in it (or why the supposedly new battery failed) but I'm glad I tried that- I was about ready to send the motherboard back to new egg.

Replaced battery and it worked. naztinc, thank you.

I have exactly the same issue! But where can I find the battery?! :silent:

EDIT

I think it's under the graphic card (http://www.manualowl.com/m/Gigabyte/GA-Z77X-D3H/Manual/273238?page=249

I don't know about your situation but you have to open the hood to get to the battery....at least on my computers....

See this link - middle of the page - the object you looking for is in the middle of the board and is silver - round - flat about the size of a quarter....

Replaced battery and it worked for me too! thnx!

Currently in the same situation.

Just ordered some replacement batteries from eBay, hope they fix the issue.

Changed the PSU and that didn't fix anything.

Well I ordered some new batteries but they haven't arrived yet.

So I took another battery from a working PC and put it in the Gigabyte board and it still doesn't work.

So I think I will have to take it back under warranty.
