NVIDIA has just launched the GeForce GTX 980 Ti, it's next high end 'Maxwell' based graphics card. The 6GB card falls between the highest end 12GB Titan X and the 4GB GeForce GTX 980.

Specs are nicely outlined here by Techreport:

Could be a good time to pick up the GTX 980, as that price has fallen to around $499. The new GTX 980 Ti will be priced at $649.

EDIT: The cards have turned up at Newegg, at least placeholders:

Nice! But expensive...

The real question is, is web driver ready. With titan x already working on it, don't see any reason it wouldn't be, but still wouldn't hurt to confirm

Now if only HWMonitor would get updated for maxwell. It's like a 5 minute edit and recompile to add the new gpu info to the sensors. I did this myself from source with my own experiment but I of course cannot test it really until i get my 980ti and it's working.

Anyone know if the most current web drivers work with the 980ti?

Reporting back.

My 980 Ti is installed and fully working with existing Web Drivers.

System Info doesn't have the right name for it, but it's working as it should and reporting correct VRAM, etc.

I'll bet the next Web Drivers will just update those small issues.

Which ti did you get?

Done any performance benching yet to see if drivers are yielding decent performance out of card yet?

Not the OP, but just installed an EVGA 980 Ti this weekend (SC, reference cooler model) and posted benchmarks here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/graphics/...opengl-graphics-benchmarks-9.html#post1050393

It's definitely fast, though (as usual) much faster under Windows.

BTW, I didn't find a lot of of feedback about the 980 Ti in a hack build yet, so here's a brief summary of my experience: I was running a Mavericks install with a 770 before, and I could not get that system to work with the 980 Ti. The latest Nvidia web drivers just wouldn't boot into Mavericks (well, they would with nv_disable=1, but that's obviously not a solution). I figured that was a good reason to upgrade to Yosemite, and interestingly I couldn't get the Unibeast installer to boot with the 980 Ti installed, no matter what flags I tried. I switched back to the 770, installed Yosemite per usual, then installed the latest Nvidia web drivers, then finally re-installed the 980 Ti. It's been rock-solid ever since. So, at this point I'm not sure what you would need to do to boot the Yosemite installer with a 980 Ti, but if you can use another GPU (or onboard graphics) for the install, it works great afterward.

I see an update came down for it yesterday mentioning 6.16.1372 & partial maxwell support came in .1370 but i still don't get any readings on my Titan X at all.

As for performance under 10.10.3 & latest web drivers my Titan X performs rather badly.

In day to day use i think my GTX 780 using web drivers actually performed better at pushing pixels @ 4k.
Pushing WOW @ 4k in OS X i was getting a steady 45-55fps with my 780.
With the Titan X it is jittery as hell, 35-50fps avg. Yet under Win8.1 it blazes @ 90fps.
It is kinda sad really we didn't get native maxwell support with this latest refresh.

OSX 10.1 OpenGL Heaven Bench GTX 780 @ 1080 max settings Score 1137
OSX 10.1.3 OpenGL Heaven Bench GTX Titan X @ 1080 max settings Score 1488
Win 8.1 OpenGL Heaven Bench GTX Titan X @ 1080 max settings Score 1833

RIGHT!?

The Titan X performs REALLY bad on just web drivers. I mean I didn't buy it for use in OS X so I am not terribly broken up by it but I do wish Apple does something with Maxwell and this card isn't doomed to suck forever is OS X.

Did you have any gpu issues by any chance? I keep getting messages in my gpu based programs (davinci and adobe) that gpu is not installed...
