My first post and maybe a little dummy one...
I've successfully installed a 10.5.4 version in my old Compaq evo 510 sff, I made an acronis image file for back up reasons, and apply this image to another computer with different hardware. The computer enters only in safe mode. Is there a way to change the installer log or something else so it can boot normally to my new computer?
Of course the most logical thing is to install a fresh mac osx in my new computer, but I really want to use the old image (don't ask my why...)
Thax in advance

I'm curious (although you say don't ask) why you are using Acronis for an image backup of OSX?

OS X doesn't tie the software to a specific hardware configuration the way Windows does. So, booting from an external image is simple, and if you use Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper you can simply clone an image to an external drive and then use the same program to clone the saved image to a new computer. The once big caveat is that CCC and SuperDuper don't clone the Chimera / Clover bootstraps. But that isn't such a big deal as you just boot from a usb like you would if you were doing an OSX install. Don't know if Acronis TrueImage copies the boot strap. However, you can't just restore an Acronis image to an external drive and boot from it.

That said, if you do use CCC or SuperDuper, and restore a cloned image to a new computer, you'll of course run into the usual and expected problems with certain kexts if the display, audio, ethernet nic, etc. are different. But as usual, you can at least boot in safe mode and then run Multibeast to install the correct kexts for your new system.

thanx man! don't know anything about CCC or Super Druper. I use computers only for music stuff.
I'll give it a try and inform you about the results. Hope this progs can burn the image to a bootable DVD because my computer don't have a USB boot order

You can boot from an external drive connected via usb, e-SATA, or a usb stick. You can also boot from a dvd, but in order to do that you'll need to also install Chimera onto the dvd. Not many computers around these days without a usb port. What computer are you trying to move the OS to? Can it be turned into a hackintosh? (I ask because of your statement about no usb).

I googled my hardware and found that I can install macosx 10.5 or earlier with some tricks on my mobo.
The thing is my mobo (asus p4pe) can not support two basic functions: Set sata controller to ACHI and boot from USB. As you can see I'm fooling around with my old, forgotten machines...
