Hi, Im a noob here!!

I am having difficult time catching my audio kext on my hackintosh and I heard it is possible to do with the dsdt thing...

I'm currently using Dell inspiron 580 desktop and as I looked around, it uses the motherboard name: dh57m02 with H57(?) and the sound chipset is alc887.

I'm very new to this and doing the dsdt configuration seems to be very hard to do..

Is there any link for step by step on how to build dsdt manually? or is that too hard to do for a newb like I am.

I searched all around but my motherboard seems to be very not familiar with other people.

Please provide me with information so that I can be part of this genious group of tonymacx86!!

Thank you and I will be very appreciate it if I see kind answers for me!

Thank you again!

The good news is that I think that you don't need the DSDT thing to get your audio working.I have the same exact desktop Dell inspiron 580, core i3 550. I got my audio working since day one. This is what I selected at MultiBeast after I upgraded to SL 10.6.8 combo. Btw, I used Multibeast 3.10.0

A few days later I started to get a ot of kernel panics. I had no idea what they meant. I tried to boot int verbose mode "-v" to see at what point the system freezes. I was seeing a couple of hex numbers and some other texts at the frozen screen. Some panics were related to my ethernet card, some of them were related to something called voodoo. I googled it, I found out that the system get paniced if there are unnecessary for incompatible kexts installed. I removed the voodoo thing, in addition to the old installed ethernet kexts.
Today, I took my desktop apart, and took a look at the motherboard closely just to see what sound chipset is that. Gosh, I spend like 20 minutes trying to see this tiny small letters in all chipsets. Finall, I could see something that starts with ACL, which I found out later it refers to Reltek audio. I searched this forum, and I ended up selecting the following to get my audio working.

Regarding the ethernet, I couldn't get the built-in card "Broadcom Netlink Gigaethernet" to work. I had the Dell DW1525 (802.11n) WLAN PCIe Card installed and it was detected, but the appstore wasn't working. I had a very old D-link pci ethernet card, hooked it up and the appstore worked.

As jester969, a forum member, told me I'll say the same to you "Never give up!".

Thanks for your reply snapieee!!!

I have done what you have told me and got my sound work perfectly fine! ^^

Thanks for your help very much.

However, I have one more question which is I believe you probably use the same monitor which came with the desktop.

which is the Dell ST2321L monitor.

At the monitor setting section, mine is stuck at 60Hz and the 75Hz section is greyed out for the 1920 x 1080 resolution.

was there anything you have done that made that work?

Thanks for your reply again!

I'm not using Dell ST2321L as a monitor as I only bought the desktop only with monitor from Dell. I have another monitor samsung syncmaster 2333t. I can get 1920x1080 with it. I think the problem isn't the monitor but it is with your graphic card. Try to search for a compatible kext for it. I believe that your video card has Radeon HD6870 chipset. So, try to get a kext for Radeon HD6870.

Edit:
I did some research and I found a kext that is compatiable with your card here (http://www.osx86.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=1257). Try it, i have attached it to this post. Install it with Kext Helper.

Hey thanks very much for your help :)

One last question. If it is same with yours and mine, did you get your ethernet port working? The wired connection. Mine says it is Gigabit Ethernet and I didn't try it but in my computer info says that "It shows that there is no installed PCI ethernet card on this computer".

The reason is because I cannot get the app store, FaceTime, and iCloud to work.

Please provide me with info again!!

Thanks very much for your help :)

You are welcome, we all are here to help each other.

No, I didn't get my built-in gigaethernet to work as I mentioned in my first reply
