Some general advice needed. I recently built a new hack with an ASUS P8H61-I and i3-2105 using the general iBoot/Multibeast procedure without a DSDT. Most things are working except sleep and some audio features. Since then, I came across the awesome MaLdOn DSDT patcher with a patch for my MB. I want to start tinkering with this to see if I can get everything working. I cloned the working partition, and want to work on that, to keep my working installation OK. My understanding is that if run Multibeast again while booted in that partition, selecting the DSDT method, it will also install a new Chimera bootloader specific for the cloned partition, which I don't want. Can I manually put the DSDT.aml into the appropriate folder (/?, Extra?)? do I need to modify the boot.plist to get the DSDT to be used? Should the file name be capitalized? Assuming that in the process of tinkering, the cloned partition won't boot at some point, is there a way to get the multiboot System Utilties to work on the cloned partition from the normal boot partition? So many questions...

You can put it for sure in /Extra, but I also believe you can just put it in /.

I don't believe it needs capitalized.

You shouldn't need to modify the boot.plist for it. To see if it is loaded, boot with Wait=Yes, and it will pause after loading everything and it should say dsdt found or something like that.

And if I understand you correctly, you can run multibeast on a different partition then you are booted to, just select a different hard drive during the process.

Hope that helps some!

Thanks. It takes the DSDT without any prompting if I just put it in /Extra. However, except for some cosmetic differences (a listing for audio in System Profiler that wasn't there before) it didn't seem to help with the two things I need to fix: sleep and front audio ports. I've attached the DSDT I got out of the patcher, but keep in mind that this was with an old Nvidia 7600 GS card. Work has been such that I've not had a chance to do anything with this at all. The kexts I used were FakeSMC, NullCPUPowerManagement, Lnx2Mac's RealtekRTL81xx Ethernet, and VoodooHDA 0.2.72. I haven't tested whether I have full gigabit ethernet, but it does stream video from a home server with no stutter, and bonjour works fine. Audio is marginal; no front ports, and no volume control from the top menu bar, only within the application. I did try the USB 3.0 kext at one point, and it activated those ports, but kept the computer from shutting down, so I removed it (no USB 3.0 devices anyway). Hope this helps.. I'm on a work computer at the moment, but next time I'm on the box in question, I'll check to see if I forgot to tell you something, and post here again.
