Hi all,

I have a late 2006 macbook pro 15". I was unfortunately lead to believe by the university bookstore person that it was a new 2007 model. I found out later after the return date expired and after a small tantrum, I let it be. It didn't really matter at the time, but it seems to now as there's a big cutoff on apple's side where 2006 models are not supported at all and 2007 still gets everything. I couldn't even get mountain lion :-/

I was wondering if installing yosemite is possible on the 2006 MBP? In my searches I've seen someone mention that there is some issue with the EFI being 32 bit and not 64 bit? Is this true? Does this make migration impossible and this is why apple hasn't bothered...is there a workaround or kext/kernel patch I can use to migrate?

urrrghh...If I ever see that college kid again!

yes you can hackintosh it, but you dont need that to run ML or Mavericks you just need to install UFI in your booting drive to add 64 bit support just search how to install Mavericks in mac pro 1.1
