Hi all!

Its been a while since I've been to this site and I wanted some help on a build I made about 2 years ago. In the end I failed to install the mac os and I never knew why. I was attempting to install snow lion.

Specs:

Intel Core i3-3225 Ivy Bridge 3.3GHz LGA 1155 55W Desktop Processor ...

G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-14900CL9D-8GBSR

GIGABYTE GA-H77-DS3H LGA 1155 Intel H77 HDMI SA

Western Digital WD Blue WD5000AAKX 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive - OEM
TA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Note: I have basically filled up that hard drive and I don't mind buying a new one. I have an old snow leapord os disc lying around can I buy a new hard drive and format that to that os and make a dual boot?

Thank you for your time!:D

hi

i do not see why not .dual boot sounds good to me im on one rite now. i presume that you used iboot for ivy bridge and followed all guides and sourced info ect ect . bios settings ,boot flags , left just 1 internal exspansion card in (first slot) and 1 ram module ect for luck

i like to keep my os on a partition or on a seperate drive completely from all of my other software . so if you are only experimenting at the moment why not go for a cheap second hand drive for now . you only need 10gb roughly

i just did another OSX install to a 40gb WD drive that cost me the grand total of $5 . :problem: rational or cheapskate im not sure ... hehe

just out of curiosity what was the problems you experienced trying to install . i have found it all a delicate process initially .

i did a quik search for your board and cpu and there seems to be a good rate of success there and a abundance of information . looking for yours has actually helped me out i just learned i need to disable wake on lan in my bios :p

Thank you for all your advice! I think I narrowed down what failed to the fact that intel graphics 4000 was used, hopefully my new nvidea 650 will work thank you good to know it is possible!

Thanks again,

Ryan
