Hi my name is Mike,

I built a hackintosh for a client of mine,

i5 oc'd to 4.2ghz
Gigabyte UD5H
ASUS GT 640

ML 10.8.5

For the life of me I cannot get my dual monitors to work, 1 via HDMI and the other via DVI,

so far it seems that only the HDMI port is functioning, since when i remove the HDMI and just plug in the DVI i get no picture and my LG monitor says power saving mode.

please help me. i need this computer finished by tomorrow morning.

*edit* also it shows my NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 2048 MB under about this mac

it also says software OS X 10.8.5 (12F37)

I followed multiple guides, every things working perfectly except for the dual monitor.

Update it to Mavericks and see if that fixes the problem.
It's got much better multi monitor support.

Thats the problem, I'm kind of stuck in Mountain Lion.

This is a studio computer for a home studio and mavericks does not support pro tools 8, 9, 10, or 11, all of which i own copies of.

if it was my own personal rig i'd install pro tools 11 and deal with any mods or work arounds that i had to make, but this client is routinely known for O.E. (Operator Error's) and i'd rather not keep making the 75 mile trek to and from his studio to fix it.

i have an inkling in thinking maybe its a bad dvi cable that i have. even when i connect the dvi via the motherboards DVI and set the graphics to internal, nothing shows. i'm running some tests now.

i also tried just using the dvi plug from the video card as well to no avail.

i'm going to get a new cable, and test that first.

but any other thoughts on what i could do?

Check your GPU and monitor for DVI-D compatibility. Make sure the monitor is able to receive a digital signal.

it was the ****ing DVI cable..

i bought 2 new cables, my video card will only let me do 1 hdmi and 1 dvi, but its fine.

got both screens working now, thank god.

LOL :headbang::headbang::headbang:

At least it was an easy problem to solve

Strictly speaking this could be argued to be a post installation graphics problem. In the end it was discovered that the OP just had a faulty cable. Once this was replaced the OP would feel the problem was resolved.
I used my discretion and left the thread as was.
