They are replaceable. There's a tray that pulls out of the back. It's bear to get out, but it can be removed. I removed mine out of curiousity.

I haven't changed it, only removed and reinstalled the original. I've read that replacing it with a standard non-rechargeable battery causes problems. The replacement MUST be rechargeable. When the time comes, I'll replace it make a post about it. (if there isn't one already).
