Hi everybody! I´m a spanish video editor newbie in the hackintosh world. :geek:(sorry for my bad english)

I´m looking for a build to work with After Effects, Avid, Final Cut and DaVinci.

I was reading the forum for a days and this is my purpoused build.

Motherboard=Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H
CPU= Intel Core I7-3770K 3.5Ghz Box Socket 1155
GPU=GigaByte GV-N670OC-2GD - Tarjeta gráfica, 2 GB, PCI Express 3.0, 6008 MHz
Power supply=Corsair CMPSU-750TXV2, 750 W, 50/60 Hz, 85 %, Over current, Over voltage, Short circuit, Under voltage, ATX, Negro
Memory=Corsair Vengeance DDR3 2x8Gb
HDD=Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA3
SSD=Crucial Technology CT256M4SSD2
Wifi=TP-Link TL-WDN4800 450Mbps Wireless N Dual Band PCI Expre
Case=Corsair Carbide 500R

and

CPU Cooler= Corsair Hydro H60, Negro, 1700 RPM------>:confused:Do I really need this? (can I mout this build witouth extra regrigeration?)

It´s all allright to run with Mountain Lion natively?

Thanks a lot!

The build is fine.

And you don't need extra CPU cooler, because the CPU comes with boxed fan.

Thanks a lot

If you're going to be using After Effects CS6 Id get a Nvidia card, a 570/670/680 will but that card your looking at to shame. Personally I love my 680 in premier and cs6.

Imo, the card you picked is fine, since After Effects is not GPU accelerated and therefore won't make any difference in rendering performance.

All of the about should work...However, with my 460 Fermi nvidia card I have not (yet) been able to get AfterEffects to render in Mercury Plaback mode. The same card works with Mercury Playback in Windows, suspect its a hack out there. As for FCP and FCPX, check my posts and look at the screen. FCPX in dual monitor and in full glory. If you are not married to AfterEffects, I bet Motion has the tools!

Good Luck...!

BTW..I'd drop the heavy duty cooler. I'm using a Thermaltake Fryo- more than enough cooling. The stock cooler would be fine but noisy. Power supply is 1200 watts OCZ Gold. The new Icy Bridge overclocks easily to almost 5 GZ, that means lots of juice. I can hear the cooler fans speeding up when I render to ProRes. Macs don't hyperthread very well, so you'll have the benefit of 4 cores, but not 8 - dang. 16 Gigs of Corsair RAM.

Finally I change a pair of items. I ordered this components:

Motherboard=Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H
CPU= Intel Core I7-3770K 3.5Ghz Box Socket 1155
GPU=GigaByte GV-N670OC-2GD - Tarjeta gráfica, 2 GB, PCI Express 3.0, 6008 MHz

Memory=Corsair Vengeance DDR3 2x8Gb
HDD=Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 2TB SATA3 64MB Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA3
SSD= SSD - SanDisk Extreme 120GB SSD Crucial Technology CT256M4SSD2

Wifi=TP-Link TL-WDN4800 450Mbps Wireless N Dual Band PCI Expre
Case=Corsair Carbide 500R

THANKS!

Yo Bro,

How is your build working? I am very curious, since I want to build a Hackintosh next week and I am also planning on using Final Cut (7), Avid and After Effects. And I'd also like to play some games on it. A lot of people on this forum are saying the GTX 570 performs best for video editing and especially for 3d modeling. I'm still hesitating between buying the Gainward GTX 570 Phantom and the Asus GTX 670 DC2-2GD5. Some tips?

After a pair of problems my hackintosh is running 100% perfect.
If you can buy a SSD bigger than mine (120). The mine its no yet full but bigger it was be a good election.

To work fully with GTX 670 in AE i have to do this:
http://www.vidmuze.com/how-to-enable-gpu-cuda-in-adobe-cs6-for-mac/

I not have FC installed yet but Media Composer 6.5 its great.

About GPU´s you can read this one to choose and to understand CUDA: http://www.studio1productions.com/Articles/AfterEffects.htm

Bye!

Jo man!

Thanks for the reply and the usefull links!!! I'm gonna let you know about my choice next week.
