Hi i'm thinking about creating a hackintosh for my web development company but i dont know what laptop to get, it doesnt need to be mega powerful just for scripting and maybe some Photoshop design stuff , it also has to have a decent battery life when im out with clients.

Dude....

You want a Hack Laptop for when Your with clients......

What kind of message does that say to the Client....

If you presented a presentation on say a HP laptop w OSX on it ... and I was IT aware ( which I am ) I would not be voting for your presentation when we review your work... youre sending mixed signals....almost like the quarterback in the SeaHawks vs Broncos game which was supposed to be a Super Bowl and turned out to be not so super Super Bowl.

Makes me think of the saying in the "Wizard of Oz"... "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain...."http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWyCCJ6B2WE

But if you wish to continue this the I suggest you read up on the HP laptops and how they are most likely the best for what you want to do....

PS just get a Mac Pro... and be done w it ... you can Boot Camp winblows on it....

My Clients are small business owners having a flashy laptop means very little to them so long as their website is good. I was going to duel boot it anyways.

I'm German but nice try at an analogy.

If i had the Euros to blow on aluminum i would have just bought one , forget i asked the question.

Thank you for your advice , my crappy dell laptop has so far cost me zero clients as first impressions are based off of my portfolio ;).

If you want a modern laptop that has the working battery life of a MacBookPro, then there is little that costs less than the Mac that comes close to its round abilities. There are cheaper alternatives in the windows world, but they are not genuinly as good. It is also perfectly feasible to spend much more than a windows laptop than an entry level Mac. It is not all about the aluminium. ;)

If you really want to have a dual boot non Apple alternative then the link above provided by totenkopf4 should help. The only problem might be getting one of these machines in Europe is likely to be difficult.
Read the stickies at the top of the Laptop compatibility forum for more information:

Good Luck

Wie ich bin ein Amerikaner, können Sie nicht wissen, dieses Sprichwort ... "Wenn seine Dell seine Swell". Und viel Glück mit diesem Projekt. Sorry für Ausstieg auf dem falschen Fuß.
