Hi,
I recently built a hackintosh with GA-Z97X Gaming3, installed Yosemite, and audio is not working. On Multibeast, I chose ALC1150 for audio driver. If I go to settings, sound, output, I see four devices: Internal speakers, Line out Port, Digital Out, and Airport express. Not sure if the is normal or not but, I don't see Headsets choice even if I connect headphones to the port. I tried every port on my PC and output option at settings, but I only hear some kind of electric noise from headphones plugged to the green port.
I'm still a newbie, and don't know what to try next. Could somebody help me?

Thank you for the advice,

I plugged headphones to the front panel and still PC doesn't detect that. Also, in my case, rear ports are not working either, so it doesn't meet the first condition ("Assumes working Internal Speakers (Green/Rear) and Line In (Pink/Rear)")??

How are you testing for sound? Are you playing something on iTunes or youtube etc? Remember the sound gadget on the title bar doesn't make that plop sound in Yosemite. Choose internal speaker and plug your speakers into the green port and have a song, etc. playing in the background.

Yes of course, I played youtube while testing.

The thing is getting weirder. When I plugged headphones to the front port again today, my pc suddenly started to detect it, and after setting output device "headphone", I can hear the sound from headphones, but the rear port still doesn't detect them, and still unfunctional. I have absolutely no idea what is going on..

P.S.

the front port stopped working again after sleep. now it detects headphones but no sound comes out

I installed a fresh copy of yosemite yesterday with multibeast and everything worked just fine. Sound made no problems at all. And today I don't get any sound anymore, neither on Safari nor in iTunes.

I tried reinstalling kext from multibeast, the new kext from multibeast 7.2 and even from multibeast 6.2.2 but still no sound. Any ideas on what could have happened?

Edit: reinstalled multibeast 7.1 and have a crackling and distorted sound now in iTunes. Don't know how to fix this.

I don't know if this will help you. I just updated to 10.10.2 and there was no audio. On 10.10 I managed somehow to work it with ALC889, but with 10.10.2, I downloaded the new "MultiBeast - Yosemite Edition 2" and installed the ALC 1150 kext. After 30 min. of continuously listening, so far no problems.

Is it working in the motherboard green port ?

I dual boot with windows 8.1 and it works perfectly then in Yosemite I have to plug the speaker into the black port to have sound.. if I let it in the green port I hear distorted sound :(

Is there any fix for this ?

I have a similar problem. In Yosemite 10.10.2 I get sound from the rear panel, only the pink port. In windows 8.1 I have to move the plug to green. My temporary solution is for windows 8.1, to use the speakers in my display which is connected via display port. For Yosemite, I keep my speakers plugged in to the pink port. Obviously this is not Optimal. I am using clover as my bootloader. Asus z-97 Deluxe. Please let me know if you figured anything out.

If you want Green rear port in osx and windows you need to do this . Turn off computer and unplug power cord from PSU. Put it back after 60s. Start computer and first log into the osx. Problem fixed. If you log into windows first, you will have a problem with green rear after switch to osx. If you are on win 7 or win 8, uninstall Realtek drivers and use only default one from windows. That can fix any switching combination from win to osx and opposite. Uninstalling drivers not working on win 10.
Why this happen is a good question, but seams that windows impair audio, or has a different approach to starting it.
