Today Apple released 10.9.5, the fifth major update to OS X Mavericks. Update any supported system using the built-in Software Update functionality through the Mac App Store, or by using the standalone installer available from Apple.com.

Be sure to back up any important data, and if possible clone your hard drive before applying the update. If you have any issues post-update, boot using UniBeast and type UseKernelCache=No.

What we know about 10.9.5 so far...

  • OS X Build 13F34
  • 13.4.0 Darwin kernel
  • Updated Intel, NVIDIA, and AMD graphics drivers
  • This update will replace your audio drivers.
    • You will have to reinstall AppleHDA using MultiBeast before or after reboot
    • If you use Clover or VoodooHDA, you may not need to make any modifications
  • Storage drivers updated - TRIM patch will need to be reapplied before or after reboot
  • 9 Series Chipset support still absent - quick fixes for Audio and Intel HD 4600 remain necessary.
  • X99 kernel and chipset support still absent - Haswell-E and X99 temporary guide remains necessary.
  • For systems with Thunderbolt, Fix for Slow Boot on Thunderbolt 2.0 Motherboards remains necessary.
  • Install OS X Mavericks App Updated - If you downloaded Mavericks from the App Store prior to today, and you want to have the latest version on your backup installer USB, simply log into the Mac App Store and click Download. When the download finishes, the app will automatically open. The updated 10.9.5 Install OS X Mavericks App can be found in the Applications folder. You may then re-create your UniBeast installation USB.
Testing is now underway- this post will be updated. Good luck, and let us know how it goes! Report your results here.

Here's the step by step way to update:
:ch: Repair Permissions using the Disk Utility on the drive to be updated;*
:ch: Backup your current installation using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper;
:ch: Download the latest MultiBeast for Mavericks which has the latest ACL8xy audio drivers**;
:ch: Download the Combo Update and run the Combo Update to update to 10.9.5;
:ch: Re-boot;
:ch: Run MultiBeast for Mavericks and just select your audio driver to install and, optionally, the 10.9.4+ TRIM patch;
:ch: Re-boot; and
:ch: Repair Permissions again.*

If you have TRIM enabled, check to see if it was affected by this update.

Note: If you encounter no audio after wake-up from sleep, here are several methods to "fix" the issue; see http://www.tonymacx86.com/audio/151504-no-audio-after-sleep-wake-realtek-alc-applehda-fixes.html. For posting audio problems, see http://www.tonymacx86.com/audio/143752-no-audio-devices-realtek-alc-applehda-guide.html#post886726. Thanks to toleda for this information.

* You can use the Terminal instead of Disk Utility if you feel comfortable with a UNIX command:
Code:
 sudo diskutil repairPermissions /

**Important: If you last used a MultiBeast version previous to MulitBeast version 6.3 and are updating to 10.9.5, you should do a complete MultiBeast v6.5.0+ configuration "load" using your previously saved ".mb" file. MultiBeast 6.3 changed how audio is accomplished and needs Chimera v3+ to run correctly.

I'm using the Z77-DS3H GTX 760 lets see if this machines passes this update

I honestly think I might skip this one, which seems odd to me to do. However, being this is my first Hackintosh, and knowing things can quickly get out of hand when updating, I think I'll just wait until Yosemite.

I suspect I'll have more than enough issues with the new OS to keep me busy, and I don't see much in this update that really applies to me.

Good luck to everyone!

what about trim?

Completely broke audio on my GA-Z87X-UD5 TH. None of the fixes in current version of Multibeast fix it. Other than that, everything seemed ok. If anyone has any idea on a possible audio fix, would appreciate it. If not though, will start from vanilla and skip this update. Might want to avoid if you're using a GA-Z87X-UD5 TH motherboard.
