I've been a part of the hackintosh scene since Leopard. I had my old Pentium configuration back then. Since the hackintosh scene was new there wasn't much support for the hardware like there is on tonymacx86. I enjoyed troubleshooting and finding solutions to all of my compatibility problems not only on mine, but even on my brothers AMD CPU system. I later upgraded to AMD as well because I was on a small budget. As time passed by I got some money I decided to buy a new system. It's a good investment since I'm in school to be a computer programmer, I'm very passionate about my bass guitar so I use a lot of professional audio tools and I also do some intense graphics work as well. I needed a system that would be reliable and future proof for about 2-3 years so I built this baby. The only thing I need is to upgrade my GPU and get an SSD.

Working:
everything except Built-In Wi-Fi

Install Guide:

Since it's a bit tricky to install OS X on this machine, reason being the fact that you need to flash the motherboard BIOS, I'm gonna write a short tutorial!

Step 1 - Patching your motherboards BIOS (Video tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SFwykHo1jA)
1.1. You need to download PMPatch, as it's the only way to patch your BIOS.
1.2. Follow the instructions on the thread and after a sucessfull patch copy it to the root of your flash drive (it's worth to mention that your drive needs to bi FAT32 formatted and the Map Scheme must me MBR)
1.3. Now reboot your machine and open up the BIOS. When your in the BIOS click on Utilities > M-Flash > Update BIOS > Select one file to update BIOS, now a new windows opened up and now you need to choose your USB flash drive and after double click on it you'll see the BIOS file you patched and after that step 1 is over.

Step 2 - Installing Snow Leopard (Skip this if you already have a mac or a hacintosh and go to step 3 if you want to update to Lion, and step 4 if you want to update to Mountain Lion)
2.1. Download and burn iBoot Ivy Bridge from tonymacx86.com
2.2. Purchase a Snow Leopard installation drive. (Please buy it and don't use a t*****t, i ordered it from Croatia so the shipping cost was more than the drive so I don't see the reason of you not buying it.)
2.3. When booting keep pressing the F11 button and choose your Ivy Bridge disk when the new window pops up.
2.4. Now you can follow Bob's guide since there is not much to add except that you need to update it to at least 10.6.6. and don't try booting it with anything except the iBoot-IvyBridge disc.

Step 3 - Installing Lion (Skip to step 4 if you want Mountain Lion)
3.1. Purchase Lion from the AppStore (Please purchase it).
3.2. Partition your flash drive with the following settings.
3.3. Now download the lastest UniBeast and run it.
3.4. After UniBeast is finished you need to download BridgeHelper 4.0.1. and since tonymacx86 only has the 5.0.0 version now you'll need to find it yourself (Google is your friend). After downloading it run it and install it to your UniBeast Flash Drive.
3.5. Now simply reebot and press the F11 Key while booting and then select the UniBeast Flash Drive. Then boot to the installer and install Lion.
3.6. You need to boot into UniBeast one more time as the kernel that Lion installed doesn't work with you CPU. Once at the installer screen run terminal with theese commands:
Code:
rm /Volumes/"Name of hard drive"/mach_kernel

cp /Volumes/"Name of USB drive"/mach_kernel /Volumes/"Name of hard drive"/
3.7. Now you can boot into Lion and run MultiBeast with these settings.
3.8. Last thing you need to do is run BridgeHelper 5.0.0 and install it to you hard disk and you're all set!
If you use the same GPU as me download this and put it to your Extra folder.

Step 4 - Installing Mountain Lion
4.1. Purchase Mountain Lion from the AppStore.
4.2. Partition your USB with the following settings.
4.3. Run UniBeast and select your hard drive.
4.4. Now boot into your UniBeast drive and install Mountain Lion.
4.5. Boot into Mountain Lion and run MultiBeast with these settings and your done!
Note: If you use the same GPU as me you need to delete, actually backup, the ATI6000Controller.kext to boot into the Mountain Lion Installation, and after the OS install you need to install the backed-up kext. I suggest using Kext Wizard or Kext Beast!

How to generate and install a SSDT
By default my processor (actually all Ivy Bridge Processors) has only 3 cpu states 1600MHz, 2900MHz and 3900MHz. If you want to enable more cpu states follow this guide (it's also recommended that you use a mac mini 6,2 system definition), if you don't manage to do it by yourself contact me and I'll do a video tutorial on it!

Great build! I like the fact that you have given a detailed guide on 'hackintoshing' the Z77 MPower!

thanks, the Z77 MPower is amazing everything works perfect so I had to do a post to show people how easy it actually is to set it up

I actually like the fact that you need to do some work before everything works, I'm a geek so I enjoy it!

(it's also recommended that you use a mac mini 6,2 system definition)?

I have the MPower Z77 setup with
i Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge
And I have mine setup with iMac 13,2 was the the closest I could find.

Would it be better to switch it to the mac mini 6,2?

Yes, it would. With the mac mini system definition you will be able to use a SSDT for speedstepping and that's very important at least for me because I don't want my cpu states to be 1.6 GHz and 4.2 GHz becouse most of the time I will use more the 1.6 GHz and the second state @4.2 GHz may be too much so why use more than you need. With SSDT you basically get 6 CPU states and mine are, considering that im using OC genie to overclock, 1.6 - 2.2 - 2.9 - 3.5 - 3.8 - 4.2 GHz. If you don't know how to create your own SSDT I'll be doing video tutorial soon so I can post the link here if you want.

That would be great because right now its OC with push button at 4.2. I really need to learn how to make my own ssdt

Thanks..

I'll post the link to my video tutorial as soon as it gets edited, rendered and uploaded. Probably in like 2 days.
