I thought this might be useful. These are all pictures I could take of the BIOS settings for my Hackintosh. I use a 4770 CPU and have 32GB. This setup is rock solid and has never crashed due to hardware (AFAIK).

I put it here as it might be useful to somebody rebuilding their system or for getting the right system settings.

I am NOT a hardware expert, I do not overclock or tweak things to get 2% more performance. Please do not ask me about things like this as I cannot help.

That's great, I will compare that carefully on next reboot.

A few questions:
  • What revision is your board (mine is rev 1.2)
  • Do you put the machine to sleep at all? I heard that can cause problems. It's my wife's machine and she puts it to sleep every night.

No idea on board revision to be honest. How would I know apart from looking at the board which is deep inside a case.

I never sleep it per se as it's used 24/7, it often does big database runs that take days or longer.

It does get rebooted as I also have Windows 10 and sometime have to boot to a native machine. I do use VMWare Fusion but some stuff needs 'real' windows.

Have you updated to Big Sur with those settings .. would be curious to see how OpenCore works.

I might dive in with my Z97X- Gaming 7 board From 10.14 to 11.1, I would need to refresh from 14,2 - 15,1 which I kinda dread since will most likely break my Iservices.

Cheers , hope everyone is having a decent new year, I'm so over this pandemic!

Not upgraded to Bug Sur.

If I do, I'll do a fresh install on a spare SSD and copy data over. This is my normal way of working.

Changing the system def worries me though. I did look at this a month or so ago and couldn't get a definitive answer on what to do.

Will stay with current OS as plenty of other things to do first.

I got the USB (OpenCore) ready to go this morning on my downtime and it installed without a hitch. I did this on a Gigabyte Z97X -Gaming 7. I wanted to test this on a new SSD anyways, I upgraded my SSD to a 1TB for extra spaces and just incase it wasn't going to work I wouldn't be left without a working system.

Im going to try and extract DSDT today and apply APCI patches to see if sleep and use Piker script to extract SSDT for power management. If anyone is interested in the outcome and can offer any advice along the way let me know I'll repost a thread =)
