Ok, well i don't think i need to go buying cables because i'm going to be upgrading to a 770/780 (good decision? i see them in the buyers guide. Is there no way i can like map which ports work in the Kext or something? I need both DVI's because one display is DVI and the other is VGA with a VGA to DVI adapter.
Also i would like to ask you both this... What did that DSDT patch do? I want to try and figure this out so i can just do it myself. Are there things i might want to configure to my personal taste?
Thanks.
Well unfortunately VGA isn't supported in OS X. So there is nothing to say that both ports are working correctly. You could try moving the cable to the other DVI port and see if that changes the situation but I doubt it. There is a way to edit the ports using a hex edit, there is page will all the edits and frame buffers but I can't seem to find it for you.
Upgrading to either of the cards is a good idea if you will use their full potential, and knowing they are in the buyers guide you will know that they have been tried and tested.
The DSDT and patches injects information in the OS on boot. So it will load the drivers needed, your example was the wake from sleep. But PJALM's patches make most things work as they should. By injecting this information it makes the OS much more stable other than have to install/edit many kexts. Keeping the installation more Vanilla.
