Hi guys,

Thanks to this wonderful forum, I successfully built my first hackintosh two weeks ago. There was no problem installing Mountain Lion. I can get into the OS system and it seems to run smoothly. However, after a few hours of use, problems emerged.

I have had a hard time trying to fix them. Some of them are fixed but some of them persist. I’ve tried to look through the forum but cannot find a perfect solution. So here I am. Please help or direct me to any thread that might fix my problems. Thanks in advance.

1. Resolution / Graphic related

I connect my monitor to the mainboard with HDMI cable. After running Multibeast and reboot, I got a half screen with distortion. I fixed it by adding the following strings in the org.chameleon.boot.plist.

<key>UseKernelCache</key>
<string>No</string>
<key>Graphics Mode</key>
<string>1920x1080x32</string></plist>
<key>device-properties</key>
<string>7f0000000100000001000000730000000200000002 010c00d041030a000000000101060000027fff04002c000000 4100410050004c002c00690067002d0070006c006100740066 006f0072006d002d0069006400000008000000050062011400 00006800640061002d0067006600780000000d0000006f6e62 6f6172642d31</string>

Now I get full resolution with other problems. So I am not sure if this is the right solution. Other issues are as followed:

(a) During the boot, after the chimera screen but before apple white screen, it shows the following messages:

Unable to handle key preferred-network
Unable to handle key current-network
Unable to handle key MLB
Unable to handle key ROM
Unable to handle key EFIBluetoothDelay
Unable to handle key bluetoothActivecontrollerInfo
Unable to handle key SystemAudioVolume
Unable to handle key LocalServiceEnabled
Unable to handle key boot-image

I am not sure what these error messages mean and whether they have anything to do with my other problems. I don’t know how to fix them either.

2. Sleep
The sleep function does not work, manual or automatic alike. When I tried to manually put the machine into sleep, only the screen turns off. The fan and hard drive just keep running. And there is no way to wake the screen up. I have to push the power button to turn off the machine and reboot. Worst of all, after I reboot the computer, the HDMI output totally dies. Even the Gigabyte BIOS screen won’t show up. The screen just blinks and shows “No Signal.” Unplug the HDMI cable does not help. Weird thing is, the system seems to be running behind the scene. When it seems to get into the OS system, I can turn off the computer with my keyboard (command+option+control+eject).

I don’t know how to wake the HDMI up again. The only way I can see the bios screen is to use D-Sub cable. But D-Sub cannot boot the system correctly, always causes kernel panic. So I kind of stuck here.

Then I decided to start from scratch. When I boot with USB and use the disk utility to erase the hard drive, HDMI suddenly works again. I finished the install, ran Multibeast, and inserted the same string (see above) to org.chameleon.boot.plist. Everything seems to work well and I decided to give up the sleep function. So in the system setting, I turn off the sleeping function. However, after installing everything and running the system for about 12 hours, the screen suddenly turned black again. It happened when I was browsing the websites so it should have nothing to do with sleep. But It looks exactly the same as if I just put it into sleep. Cannot wake up the screen, and HDMI dies again after reboot. There is no way to wake it up. I am extremely exhausted and frustrated.

3. Unstable Wifi
I followed the buyer’s guide on the forum and bought TP Link WDN4800. It works out of box and the system recognizes it as “Airport Extreme.” However, the Wifi is extremely unstable. It randomly stops working, though it still appears to be connected. I have to turn off the wifi, wait about 10 seconds, and restart to make it work again. I changed the wifi channel several times with no luck. I saw from other thread that it could be fixed by using a dual band router and just use the 5Ghz frequency. I have not tried this because a dual band router is expensive and my current router works well for my MBP, iPhone and iPad. Is changing a dual band router really the only way to fix this problem?

Here is my build:

GA-Z77-DS3H (Rev. 1.1, F9)
Intel i5 3570k
No Graphic card, use only built-in graphic chip: HD4000
8G memory
Hitachi 3.5” Hard Drive
IOGear Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter
Apple magic mouse and wireless keyboard.

Multibeast
Check only DSDT/No DSDT, audio drive, and FakeSMC and its plugin.

Used the latest Chimera to fix iMessage.

Please help me to fix it. Thank you very much.

Did you ever figure out what cause this:

Unable to handle key preferred-network
Unable to handle key current-network
Unable to handle key MLB
Unable to handle key ROM
Unable to handle key EFIBluetoothDelay
Unable to handle key bluetoothActivecontrollerInfo
Unable to handle key SystemAudioVolume
Unable to handle key LocalServiceEnabled
Unable to handle key boot-image

I am getting the same thing on my computer and the bluetooth is acting all weird now. Let me know.

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,

I ran Chimera 1.11 to override 2.01 and those messages just stop showing up. It might cause the imessage to stop functioning. But this can be solved by reinstalling 2.01, login to imessage, and install 1.11 again. Hope this help and sorry for the poor English.

Ray

Hi,

I have the same setup and also have issues with sleep. I don't have the other issues you mention, and I am a noob here so not sure how to help you. As far as sleep, sleep and autosleep work....BUT NOT waking up. The machine wakes up but the display stays black.
