Hi Casey

I solved my rebooting from m2 drive issue by copy & replacing EFI / BOOT folders on my m2 drive with the folders inside usb Mojave installer I used...

For shutdown issue I added EmuVariableUefi-64.efi file to drive64eufi folder in my efi folder and added slide=0 to my boot menu.

these solved my all problems

I uploaded my recent config.plist can you check it again if it correct///
system opens a bit slow I think(gigabyte logo stays on for 15sec & clover then starts), do you see something of with my config file???

all the best

I found a few small issues with your config.plist. I've corrected some of them and I'll let you correct the others:
  • Your motherboard is very similar to mine. I've added a few settings to your file that should improve sleep/wake, etc. You can compare the attached config-cmert.plist with your original version to see the differences.
  • I added Framebuffer connector patches to enable your motherboard's on-board video ports, including HDMI. If you run into any video display issues, these patches can be modified or removed. They are all under Devices --> Properties.
  • Finally, your SMBIOS section is extremely incomplete as you can see in the image below. You should select an SMBIOS name from the pop-up menu and click "Trust" as shown.

do you suggest i replace the config file you have sent with the current one i'm using?? my system shutdown sleep/wake normal now...

same as here i use rx580 external graphics card and it seems working good, do you suggest i change my config with these.. if you say i should, ill change it :)

Ive changed this in my config file w imac18.2 because my cpu is i5 8400...

Finally if you say changing my config file make my booting faster ill try that now :)

Apologies for the late reply...
  • You should not replace your config.plist.
  • Instead, I think you already compared my version with your version. Please keep your version and just make changes to it as needed. You can get some idea from my version.
  • Please check if your config.plist has "-disablegfxfirmware" in the Boot section. On some motherboards, this can speed up the boot time.
  • However, if computer still takes 50 seconds to boot, which part of the boot process is slow?
    • From power-on to Clover Boot Menu?
    • From Clover Boot Menu to Mojave Login screen?

I don't think I have "-disablegfxfirmware" in my Boot section..

it takes 15 seconds gigabyte logo to disappear, and Mojave login screen comes around 45-50sec...

do you think, if I disable verbose mode will it be faster ?

Yes you should disable verbose mode now that the system is operational. It will speed up the boot process by a little bit. The "-disablegfxfirmware" option can be added with Clover Configurator.

now system opens a little Bit faster I see apple logo around 30 sec and Mojave opens around45to 50 with the auto login...

But sometimes when open the computer it freezes on gigabyte logo at the beginning and if I close and open the comp again it starts flawlessly but 1/5 openings have a freezed motherboard logo at the beginning what do you think can cause that ?

my boot menu on clover is like this now...

I added dart=0 to shutdown and reboot problem I think
  • dart=0 protects against VT-d issues, so it's always recommended.
  • slide=0 works alongside OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000.efi to prevent "Couldn't allocate runtime area" errors during boot. Both of these are virtually essential on Z390 Gigabyte motherboards.

This is odd and should not happen. Are you running the latest BIOS? It might be a good idea to update or re-flash BIOS then configure BIOS parameters once again starting with "Save & Exit --> Load Optimized Defaults".

If this does not remedy the problem, there might be a hardware problem. Do you have Firewire or other PCIe cards other than a graphics card? If so, try removing them (keep the graphics card installed, however).

If this also does not help, test your memory using Memtest for Mac as explained here.

Also ensure that all PCIe cards and memory DIMMs are properly seated on the motherboard. Also check power cables.

And lastly, how many SATA drives are connected internally (how many of the onboard SATA ports are you using)? And how many of the NVMe slots are occupied? Based on this, please consult the motherboard user manual to determine which SATA ports can and cannot be used.

This looks okay. You may want to add "-v" (verbose) until the 1-in-5 boot-freeze problem is resolved.
