Hello All,

First off I’d like to express my thanks to the forum membership for being such a helpful, sharing community! I’d never have made it as far as I did without all the resources here… thanks!


A little personal background…

I spent 15 years in IT providing desktop support, before opting to drive choo choo trains about 10 years ago. I was very well versed in most things technical, but I may be a bit rusty now, so I thank you for your patience.

Working in mainly windows shops, I was always a PC guy until about two years ago I decided to give Apple a shot and really loved the accessibility, features, integration that the OS provided. First I was using an old MacBook Air I borrowed from a friend, which I quickly outgrew. Then I purchased my very own MacBook Pro — which I have now outgrown as well. I find myself needing for a box with a bit more horsepower... then I can finally retire my Windows PC.

So, after much deliberating I decided to take the plunge and attempt my hand at building a Hackintosh.

The system is modeled mostly after benmingli’s build (https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...gabyte-z390-i-aorus-pro-wifi-i9-9900k.267897/). I followed his instructions as much as I was able to, and faced various perils and pitfalls along the way that required some deviation or creative license, but I’ve tried so many things I’ve lost track of all the trials and tribulations and their solutions.


The Issue at Hand:

I have reached a point, where Mojave appears to be installed — I was able to navigate through the setup, as well as link my iCloud account, however, shortly after getting to the desktop the very first time, the system locked up. After rebooting, I have not been able to get past login without the system locking up. I am able to get to the login screen, but as soon as I press enter after inputting my password, the pinwheel stops spinning.

I appear to be able to boot into Safe mode via Clover.

Also, I'm able to get past the login screen 1/10 boots, but it appears to be a matter of time until the system locks up -- sometimes it chokes right in the midst of loading the desktop, and once it even stayed up for an entire 30 minutes! lol

Any helpful advice?
